Ok, I just bought Wii, my DD long time dream. I originally wanted to get red Wii with Mario game which kind of looks a lot like a Mario I used to play 20 years ago and I am not sure if this is a good thing.

Anyway, they were out of red Wii and I got black one instead with sports games and additionally bought Epic Mickey. BTW Epic Mickey is on sale at BestBuy, $40 instead of $50.

Technically, I can order red Wii on line and return this one, I did not open yet. I need some advice on those 2 games.

Has anyone played Mario from red Wii or Epic Mickey? Which one is better? Is Mickey one is really great game, setting aside the fact that it is Mickey?

Please help me deside.:goodvibes

Mario is going to be more of a straight laced video game.

Epic Mickey is an RPG (role playing game) that can get very very involved.

I bought it for my husband for Christmas as he is into those type of games--but if she isn't into the very involved games like that, it could become a turnoff. I have no intentions of playing epic mickey myself.

I like to play a game and then be quickly done with it. Now having to strategize to pass levels--that is fine...but I'm talking, I don't want to pretend I am a character and "live" and all that.

I want to jump on my mushroom and grab a coin and be done.:rotfl:

How old is your DD and what is she in to as that can help determine which game might be more appropriate.

DS14 got Epic Mickey for Christmas and votes for that over any Mario game. He loves it.

My DD is 18 but loves video games, just like me. We still have Nintendo 64 and our favorite game there was Mario64 but it was full 3D game not line sort of game like this Mario. We also have PS2 and loved FF games, although last one we did not finish, was too complicated. She loves short sort of games but she also loves great story games like FF, I just donotknowif Epic Mickey is great story game. I also heard somewhere that controls are a bit difficult in both games. BTW, red Wii also comes with Wii Sports and black one with Wii Sports and Wii Resorts. Are those 2 games kind of a same thing?

We have both games and they are totally different types of games. Mario is fun for everyone, the adults and kids here play it. Epic Mickey was a gift for my 11yr old DD for Christmas and she tried it and has given up on it. I love playing it though, it's very involved, lots too it. And it's only a 1 player game, so you guys couldn't play it together like the Mario game. I honestly don't find the controls for either game to be difficult. With Mario you are just turning the controller sideways which makes it much more similar to the old style controllers. For EM, once you figure out which contoller is for paint and which is for thinner, its pretty easy. If it were me, i'd get the Wii that comes with Mario or just go ahead and keep the Wii you got and buy Mario seperate.

I agree that it really depends on the kinds of games your DD likes to play.

I got caught up in the Epic Mickey hype, even though I know none of my kids are into that type of game at all. Big mistake, I have a feeling Epic Mickey and his cute paintbrush nunchuck are just going to sit idle at our house.

But my DD's have had Just Dance 2 on practically non stop since they got it, and my DS will spend hours playing Madden, or any kind of realistic sports game.

Personally I'm with Lisa... jumping on mushrooms is about my speed too. Although poor Diddy Kong really took a beating when the kids conned me into playing Mario Kart with them the other day, so I'm not proficient even at that. :rotfl:

I vote Mario!!!! I got the Red Wii for Christmas and I am having a blast with it!!!:cool1:

The fact that Mario looks like old school Mario is the reason I love playing it. DS (age 8) got Mario Wii for Christmas. DD (age 6) got Epic Mickey for Christmas. I haven't had a chance to really sit down and read how to play it. She hasn't really grasped it well. DS I think has more than she has. I'd probably go for Mario Wii over Epic Mickey for her first game.

I love both games and I don't think you could go wrong with either one. Mario is a little bit easier, but Epic Mickey has all the Disney stuff which makes it feel familiar and easier than it might otherwise. Both games have their issues and take some getting used to, but both are doable for even casual gamers. One Dis member did post that she had some motion sickness problems with Epic Mickey, so that could be a problem for some people. Super Mario Bros. can accomodate up to four players, while Epic Mickey is just for one at a time.

Epic Mickey is an RPG (role playing game) that can get very very involved.

Epic Mickey is described as a role playing game in some descriptions and reviews, but it isn't really one. You don't make choices about how to level up or what characteristics your character is going to have. It's really just a traditional 3D platformer, but your character changes over the course of the game based on the things you do in the game. Even though it has elements of an RPG, none of those things require any specific action on your part - it just happens on it's own as you are playing. Gameplay-wise, it's more similar to things like Mario64, Super Mario Sunshine or Super Mario Galaxy than to Super Mario Brothers Wii. It's not at all like typical RPGs such as Oblivion, Dragons Age or even Kingdom Hearts.

I checked red Wii yesterday and it was sold out everywhere, so we openned Epic Mickey and played. My DD lovesthe game. I played as well. Took some time to figure out where to go at the very beginning but when we finally got brush to work it was so interesting. Graphics remind me KingdomHearts. I like controls, very simple. I did not like fight system in FF when you take turns and have too many options. This game fight system is very simple, fight as you go. I love familiar things like Dumbo, so cute.
We might get Mario later but I still not sure to get line version or 3D.
We also checked Sports game Wii came with. The music that plays when you at the main menu so reminds both of us Epcot music, lol.

DS 18 loves Epic Mickey on the Wii

3 weeks before Christmas, DS & I went to Toys'R'Us - on a whim. we have not been in that store in 10 years.

They had a sale - Epic Mickey Wiii and The Biggest Loser Wii game, both for $60, which gives us $30 for each game.

So my kind DS got the Epic Mickey Wii for Christmas and gave me, his mom, the fitness game so I could lose 20 pounds. :rotfl:
(If we threw away the Chistmas calorific goodies, I would have less temptations)
