Epcot: Undiscovered Future World- Anyone Done it Recently?

I am thinking about doing this tour and trying to decide which day to do it. I considered doing it on my last day, but if we always get preferred seating for Illuminations, then that would not be a good idea since I can only be in the park until 1:30 or so on that day.

Do tour participants always get preferred seating at Illuminations, or is that just an every now and then thing?

I read that there was a discount offered on lunch in China. What is the discount? Is it always China?

I have read that some groups rode Test Track and Spaceship Earth during the tour, while others did Soarin'. Is there a set ride pattern now? It would be nice to know so I can plan fastpasses.

I decided to do it on July 4th so that I would not be rushed to get back to the resort for DME.

I did it in 2015 and we did get preferred viewing for Illuminations. Only a few people form the tour took advantage of it, so it was really private. I enjoyed the tour itself, but it was also kind of sad to go in to places like upstairs in Imagination that are currently barren and unused.

I've done this tour twice. The last time was in July of 2016. We were offered Illuminations viewing both times. Last year, it was just admission into the FP+ viewing area. I think the discount for dining at China was 25% if I remember correctly.

This tour is entertaining, but I would not do it again. You do get to see some interesting back stage areas and get to ride some attractions without waiting in line. I personally think this tour is a little too long, and it was super hot on our last tour. I thought we might melt when we were in the back stage area of China!

I enjoyed going backstage and seeing the VIP lounge. It was neat to see the costume shop and the CM areas. It was good to ride TT and SE without a wait, also. I think the info was interesting.

I was disappointed that we got no special viewing for Illuminations and also no dining discount. We just got a neat little pin and a free Mickey Bar ice cream (they were giving them out to CMs in the CM area in celebration of the 4th and offered us them, too). Maybe special viewing was not offered because Epcot was packed that night due to the 4th fireworks. But there were only three of us. I thought surely they would give us at least the fastpass area for viewing.

I thought the tour was worth it once to hear the info and see the back stage areas. There were only three of us plus the CM, so it felt very private and VIP. I knew a lot of the info already, but some of it was new.

CM tour guide was fine. Not bad, not outstanding.

I would recommend the tour to people who love Epcot and want to see some backstage areas.
