Assuming you can walk briskly. Exit international gateway & walk past Boardwalk, short cut through Boardwalk Main pool and take the path to epcot along the canal.

Friendship boats also run from International Gateway to MGM, but criss-cross the lake stopping at all the hotels. This is the way you would go if tired, if you walk slowly, or if you have children.

Unless you catch the boat right away and you are able-bodied with no straggling small ones, the walk is the Fastest way to do it. But if the boat is right there and leaving soon, the 1-2 minute difference in time is rewarded by the lovely boat ride. The boat stops at BW, Y&B and Swan/Dolphin (3 stops total en route ) before the last dash to MGM. Also, if there are any tired adults or kids in the party, the boat is certainly the way to do it.

There is also a bus that runs from the front of the park. The bus runs every 15 minutes, and takes 10 minutes to get there.

If you are in Future World near the entrance, catch the bus that Tyler mentioned. If you are near the International gate, walk. If you're in the middle of the park, flip a coin.

If you leave on a boat at the same time that I start walking, I'll be waiting for you at the dock, eating an ice cream cone from Dinosaur Gerties. Those three resort stops take up a lot of time. And if you have to wait for a boat, I won't even bother waiting for you.
