We are a family with two girls of 9 and 7, and I am wondering what park would be better to spend the evening of the New Year Eve, Dec. 31 - Epcot or MK?
I am having hard time to decide which park to go on Dec. 30 and which park on Dec. 31. No hopper option has been purchased. Thanks.

Just a reminder that there is no alcohol at MK, where there is at Epcot. We've done it in both places. The year at MK, we had children aged 9 and 6. The children could not/would not stay up until midnight at the park. We took the monorail to Poly, sat on the beach and watched fireworks and had a toast. At Epcot, it is rowdy and people are drinking. Remember, the price of the alcohol is high, so we stayed comparatively sober. I did not have children when I did it at Epcot, and I had a good time but I wasn't worried about my kids perception of the other adults. Frankly, I liked the beach at the Poly better than I did Epcot, but that's just me.

Both are going to be more crowded than you can imagine. If you go to MK, you'll need to get there early and stay all day because it will reach a stage 4 closure. Epcot won't close, but it will still be shoulder to shoulder people and the crowd will be a bit rowdier, especially as the evening wears on.

Try looking at some videos on youtube to get a better picture of what the parks will be like.

NYE 2010/2011 we spent in MK. We got there early and stayed ALL DAY. it was shoulder to shoulder from about 11am - until we left at 1am the next morning. We had a BLAST but it was a very crowded day! Not only did the park close due to capacity, but the HUB closed as well... we had a spot right in front of the castle and DH left the "hub" to use the restroom. He was not able to get back on. Security said the HUB was at capacity and it was "closed" no more people were allowed in. it was ~crazy~ packed.

My boss did it a couple of years ago and said Epcot felt a bit less crowded since there was more room to move around. Still, he showed me the pics and it looked awful darn crowded to me.

They saw pictures from some other people who did MK and said it was just shoulder to shoulder walking down Main Street.

He also said that was their last time going over a holiday.:sad2:

If you have to go to a park I would pick Epcot just because it's a little roomier (and for booze LOL).

We did new years eve Epcot in 2007. We had a table booked for 5:30pm which we had, somehow, by a massive stroke of luck, booked 3 days before when someone cancelled. When we booked this table, the lady (in the park- concierge?) told us to get there by 8am as the park will close due to maximum capacity by around 10am!!!
We got there at 7:30am and did not leave till 3am the following morning!

Extremely long, very expensive, but very worth it! BUT.... I wouldn't recommend it with kids, it was so amazing packed, you could not move, too many people had had too much to drink and the entertainment they had around the park was geared towards adults.

We later got told by a CM they indeed the park did reach maximum capacity and shut at 9:15am.

It's obviously down to You, but I'm sure all parks will be this packed, you just have to decided which one you want to end up celebrating in. Either way you'll have a blast! :thumbsup2
