Epcot on Mararthon Morning

How is Epcot on the morning of the marathon? Specifically, is it realistic to think that I can make it to Germany and back to the marathon area without huge delays? My husband is running in the marathon and I would like to pick up some treats from Caramel Kuche for him and then make my way back toward the finish line area. We were at Animal Kingdom last year during the marathon and I found it to be not that bad, but I am wondering what the general traffic flow of Epcot is.

World Showcase shops won't open until 11AM.

The marathon starts in the Epcot parking lot and Epcot is the first park they run through. So the runners should be out of Epcot well before the park opens. The Germany Pavillion opens at 11am. I guess it all depends on how fast your husband runs.

ETA: I guess the final race course hasn't been announced yet.

Unless something has changed, the runners will run through the World Showcase, then through the park to the finish so it does tend to get pretty crowded in the WS area. It really does depend on how fast your husband hopes to finish....Unless he runs 6 hours or slower, it won't be possible.

I didn't realize that they haven't set the final race course yet. I had assumed it was the same as the year I ran it, but I guess it has changed since then.

This year I was in World Showcase finishing right when world showcase was opening and people were getting around fine I think from what I saw as I ran. I'm a middle of the packer (clock time was like 5:40ish) When we enter Epcot we head towards France and around ending on Mexico to head towards Spaceship Earth and out to finish. You may have to wait for the crossing area to get by Spaceship Earth and I can't remember if there were other crossing areas. Depending on how fast he is & what corral he starts in though he may already be done by the time World Showcase opens for you to shop as said above. Might be better to wait and get it after he finishes.
