My DH is basically a "meat and potatoes" kind of guy. He won't admit it, but he is happiest with a steak or ribs or chicken, and potato and veggies on the side. I know either of these restaurant will fit that bill.

DH has never been to either restaurant. I've never been to the Garden Grill. I wasn't even going to consider it except for the fact that they've brought back the old menu. Well, most of the old menu, anyway. lol

The one time I had dinner at LeCellier, I wasn't impressed at all with the cheese soup, and my filet mignon was dry and tasteless. I am going to assume that I was there on an off night.

I am leaning towards LeCellier. But for those of you who've done both, can you please vote and/or comment as to what you liked or didn't like, about each?

THANKS! :sunny:

We decided that LeCellier was the best option for us. I booked the ADR yesterday! Maggie

In my, albeit limited, experience I have found character dining food to be mediocre and service also poor. Sure, it's a nice experience for kids, but overall they are way overpriced. We are only doing one next trip (Crystal Palace for breakfast).

So given your choices, Le Cellier all the way!

I would expect that a "meat and potatoes" guy would be happier at Le Cellier. But Garden Grill has been a favorite of ours in the past and hopefully will continue to be, now that it has returned to something close to its original menu.

We are going to Le Cellier for the first time this year. We have eaten at Garden Grill on every trip to WDW. I don't think of it as a character meal as such, in that we don't really go for the characters. It's just a nice relaxing place for a family after a busy morning in Epcot. The food in the past has been unpretentious but well-prepared.

We had lunch at Le Cellier in June. we hated it. We didn't think it was that good. I had the prime rib sandwich, which was shaved so thin you wouldn't have known it was prime rib. And the small amount of horseradish mayo on it doesn't even seem worth doing. My dh had the veggie lasagna. It was presented very strange with alot of different sauces. He said it was okay. My stepdaughter had the hamburger which was huge, but not cooked to specifications. Now we love Le Cellier for dinner and we were really disappointed in lunch.

Thanks for the votes and comments, everyone. So far, LeCellier is in the lead! lol

Have any of you had the open-face sirloin steak sandwich? I am planning on ordering that, or the French Dip. I want to try the cheese soup again. I am hoping I had it on an off night, last time. I've had cheese soup other places and loved it!

erikthewise: We weren't going to Garden Grill for the characters, either. :earboy2: DSs are teens now, and this trip is only DH and I, anyway :) I had liked the idea of the original menu with the catfish that my DH would enjoy, and the other foods that we'd both enjoy. :scratchin

We wanted to try GG back in 2001 but never was able to squeeze it in. Then for our trip this past summer, they changed the menu so I didn't bother squeezing it in. Just not sure if we (DH and I) should try it now, or go to LeCellier; hence, this poll! :confused3

P.S. Just realized that the French Dip is the prime rib sandwich that experiment626mom mentioned. It was really bad, eh? Bummer. It sounds good on the menu. But I guess everything sounds good on the menu. lol

i said lecellier mainly cause with the numerous changes at gg who knows what the menu might be soon :rotfl2:

We have eaten at GG twice, and the food was good with horrible service both times. We've not been to the new version of GG.

We love Le Cellier. Le Cellier all the way of these two choices.

My DH & DS's are true meat&potato guys - we love LeCellier. Skipped it in February for the Yauchtsman (food good, atmosphere stuffy - sorry we did).

We try for the latest lunch seating available and consider it our main meal of the day. We've ordered the French Dip & Open faced Steak Sandwich, both were great. I always order French Dip if it's on any menu & consider myself a French Dip expert - highly recommend. Of course, the cheese soup is to die for :cloud9: . I usually find room for dessert (cheesecake) too  . Enjoy the magic.

::MickeyMo Le Cellier is one of the most amazing restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of eating at! ::MinnieMo

LeCellier! LeCellier! LeCellier! Never been to the Garden Grill, but I've read many negative things about the 'new' Garden Grill on a few forums. We ate dinner at LeCellier a couple of weeks ago on our first day in WDW. It was one of our top meals and a great way to start our week! My husband and I both ate the Filet Mignon (served two different ways), and loved the bread, appetizers and dessert. Our kids enjoyed it too!

Thanks for voting! I called yesterday and changed our Garden Grill ADR to LeCellier :sunny:
