Epcot July 4th - Illuminations FastPass?

Hi! I normally wouldn't bother with a fastpass for Illuminations, but I've never been to WDW for July 4th before and it seems like with the crowds, using a fastpass for Illuminations might be a great way to get a reserved area with a nice view.

Any thoughts on whether it's worth it? (I've been on Soarin', Test Track, and Maelstrom many many times, so not getting those isn't a big deal, especially for a nice view of the special July 4th tag.)

I got a FastPass for Illuminations on July 4th this year.

In 2011 I think it was around 7pm when I noticed spots start to fill up around the lagoon. So I staked out a spot while my son and hubby went on rides. When the crowds started getting heavier I called them to join me. Even though I sat there for 3 hours on my ecv right before the fire works started some people tried to push in front of the small gap I had between the front of my ecv and the railing.
