EPCOT International Festival of the Arts: January 13 - February 20

Like this idea - but it's not a surprise that they are trying to pump up the remaining off-seasons with extra festivals. It's actually good they are not just saying "Let's do food and wine all year round" and are instead trying to come up with something different. Not a coincidence it goes from the weekend after the Disney Marathon to the weekend before the Princess marathon.

I have to say I like this idea too-- but I am a bit disappointed in the starting of F&W at the end of August-- The beginning to middle of september was always our favorite time to go due to lack of crowds-- however, when all days are super, none will be....

I actually seriously doubt that the earlier start to F&W will really build crowds that much. It's just too dang hot in September! They tried moving the opening of F&W up two years ago and then this year they moved it back again. I suspect that will happen again.

BTW - love the Incredibles reference...

I hope you're right...We just switched this year from a labor day weekend trip to the weekend after....... was really nice... but we always go over labor day, and have never seen F&W then...... I don't recall them ever to start it in august...

I'm so excited for this! We'll be there the last weekend of it, and already had Monday planned as an Epcot day. Adding Sunday afternoon/evening as well just in case (but if the Broadway option is good enough, I'll juggle Saturday too!). Here's to hoping for schedules some day...

Any news yet? Wednesday I'll be 30 days out from the day trip we are planning on in Jan and it would be nice to know if I should be making FP+ for Epcot or MK that day

I know, I had to do my FPs yesterday. It would have been really helpful to know what I should plan around!

It is 32 days for us...I have allotted 2 days fro Epcot instead of the usual 1 day...I would really like to something soon!

This is me at my most cynical on the delay of announcements...

In my cynical moments, I think it's probably b/c they are looking for performers and artists and their shows/art who will either perform/show for free or actually pay Disney to do it and be there...and they are struggling to find them b/c those artists aren't stupid...

They also are probably struggling with finding the highest price points they can charge for superfluous events that will still lead to sales and $$$ signs (not to mention how high they can go with food and wine booths (that will also exclude snack credit usage)...

And they can always rely on people coming and having "hope" it will be good...they always do...no matter what Disney does, if it's " brand new and never done before", people will plan trips and make the best of it, and the later Disney announces subpar stuff, the harder it is for those folks to cancel trips - instead, they'll usually make the best of it...
