I was watching the History channel the other night and they had a whole show on Disney. I forget what they call the big ball at Epcot, but I thought they said there is a ride inside it???? How could I have been going to Disney all these years and not know that??

The ride that you are referring to is Spaceship Earth.............one of my favorites! :teeth:

It's one of my favorites too! I rode it twice last week. But tell me, was it my imagination or is it much more "politically correct" than it used to be?

Not to be rude, but I would have thought that the que lines out front should have given a clue. In all fairness, the lines aren't what they used to be, everytime we go to Epcot the lines are practically walk on, one of the few that you will find anymore.

The ride itself, Spaceship Earth, is a dark ride where you sit in a vehicle that is on a constantly moving track. You begin with the first forms of communication, paintings found on walls and slowly transport through time seeing how far we have come when it comes to communication and then you find yourself in outer space. The ride is really great for a cool down or if you have younger children who could use a 15 minute nap.

it's spaceship earthe a nice slow ride going up and down through the "ball" telling riders about history of technology and the future of it, it's pretty cool, i prefer to carosel of progres

It is my 9 year old daughter's favorite! One day we rode it 4 times last week. My kids got on a 'hidden mickey' kick and we discovered there are about 4 or 5 on this ride. Once we got off, went around and got right back on!! It gets a little boring after too many times!!!

No, not rude, I guess I missed the obvious??
In my defense, the last trip was the week before Thanksgiving, one of the slowest weeks, and there were not lines for anything! I guess the other times we were on a mission and looked past it thinking it was just decor! Duh!

My family and I love this ride. Yes, it is slow and can be boring but it's a great way to relax and cool off. I love spotting the hidden mickey's even though they are in the same place everytime, lol, it's still fun.

It doesn't feel like a good day unless we ride this ride. If the kids don't want to go on it I just have to say "But, it's a tradition" :teeth: Get's them everytime.

I guess it could be overlooked. There usually isn't a line for it, except in the very early hours of park opening. But like others have said, its a great ride. I ama teenage thrill ride lover, but this is one of the favorite rides. It's not a visit to WDW without atleast one ride on Spaceship Earth!!

I never thought I had a favorite but when I think about the fact that I ride Spaceship Earth at least twice each time I visit Epcot, it must rank right up there. One time when it was really slow, late in the evening, I rode it three times without getting off. I just motioned to the CM that I wanted to go again and he just waved me through. Cool!

My DD6 princess: loves this ride too! It's on her must do list. We rarely do it when we enter though as that's when the lines are longest. Later in the day, it's a walk on. :goodvibes

I remember the ride from my first trip in 1983. It's changed alot and I miss the room they had at the end with all those "cool" computer games! :rotfl2:

It's DH's second favorite nap spot in Epcot (#1 is American Adventure).

I love that ride. I always go on it during the middle of the day in Epcot, just when I need a short rest. Perfect relaxing ride.

I have had many conversations with people on the Ball. Many people did not know it had a ride and many people have sworn up and down that it is a fast moving roller coaster.

:lmao: That's too funny! My parents are the same way!! The only reason they go on American Adventure is for a quite snooze!! :lmao:

This ride is the reason we're doing a disney vacation this year. :rotfl: We were supposed to go to Orlando but doing Sea World and Universal. My DD (16) kept asking if we could "just" go to Epcot, no other dis parks. She really wanted to ride Spaceship Earth. After a while we started talking it over, and since she and I are not thrill riders, my DH, DD and I decided that we'd have more fun at Disney. :dance3: So three months ago, I changed all our plans!! Shortest time frame I've ever done a Disney trip, as we usually plan them a year out.

I like SE because it's the most classic of the remaining Future World attractions. It reminds me of the Future World of my childhood, with Horizons, World of Motion, etc.

I have found the opposite as far as lines. When I get there at opening time, there is never a line, which is when I go on. But I have seen it have a decent line around noon/1pm when I usually am leaving.

But I also am one of the fans. Mostly because the first time I went to WDW (but I never count it as a trip) was about 2 months after it opened in 82. I went for one day with a former employer (looooong story). Anyways, I saw that it was a ride (yes at that time it had huge lines :rotfl2: ), but since I had no say on the rides to go on, didn't get to go on it, though it was one I wanted to go on most.. :sad1:

So when I got to go to WDW in 2000 (My official first trip :cool1: ) It was the first thing I hit when I went to Epcot.
