EPCOT Fountain

What's all this I'm hearing about the musical fountain in EPCOT being "disappeared"?
I haven't heard this but nothing would surprise me nowadays. Cheapskate would tear down Cindy's Castle if it would save a buck or two.

We were there in August, and the etire center section of that part of Epcot was boarded up. You had to travel over next to the Sea to get around, or over close to Mission Space. Not sure if the fountain is staying of being modified (0r going, but with the history of it, that would really sadden me) but you cannot see it or go to anything in that area. At least in August.

Some of our best Disney trips included that fountain. I remember one Christmas trip, sitting around the fountain with DD and DH, as well as my sister, BIL, and 2 nieces, singing along with the Christmas carols that the fountain played, watching the lights and dancing water... They don't do the arch of winter lights between FutureWorld and World Showcase anymore either, right. Lights Of Winter? Disney will do anything to save a nickel while they charge more and more. It's really not worth going anymore, it's more of an amusement park now than a magical, all-encompassing, immersive experience. It used to be just magic, everywhere.

Haven’t been to Disney in 6+ years because all the money grabbing turned me off. People watching fountains doesn’t make money I guess.

They were supposed to open a smaller fountain eventually, but a few plans got changed after the pandemic...difficult to tell what we'll get now

I will admit that the replacement pavilion DOES look pretty sweet, just qualifying that statement with dismay that such a magical item has now been lost seemingly forever :(

This was not done to be cheap, this was part of a MASSIVE overhaul of Epcot that would add several new attractions and a new Festival Center in the central spine. They did take out the Fountain of Nations to create the space though. The attractions will include the Moana Journey of Water, Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind (replacing Energy), and the already open Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. The status of the Festival Center and the PLAY Pavillion (Wonders of Life) are sort of unknown at this time. Moana is proceding currently, as is Guardians. They did build a new fountain in front of Spaceship Earth that is smaller, but still very pretty and evocative of the original entrance fountain. When done, this is all going to be great - but it is taking a while.

Supposedly the water was saved for later. Whatever that means.

When Disney Parks drain any water atttraction for maintenance, they drain it into storage basins or tanks that they can tap to refill them - it doesn't just go to the sewer. This is done to conserve as much water as possible.

Good to hear! :)

When DD23 was 2years old she made a mask at the Kidcot Fun Stops in some of the different lands. When we walked past the fountain, the wind made a mist that got on her mask and the colors ran - SHE FLIPPED OUT! We tried touching it up, but it didn’t work. My kids have made several masks since then, and I have every one, but none will hold the memory like the first one, and to be honest, it’s the coolest looking one, because it has a tie dye look to it. So, in the end, that fountain blowing mist on it was a good thing, but convincing a 2 year old of that was impossible - LOL!

I know. There have been many unwelcome changes and Chapek and his “ways” are an easy target. EPCOT needed a facelift in the worst way but not sure some things needed to be discarded. i.e. The new evening show is horrible IMO. The thought was nice but the finished product…not so much. It was pretty spectacular before they “fixed” it.

I LOVED HarmonioUS myself - much better than Enchantment. We watched both in one night.
