Can someone direct me to some more information about this? Does it cost extra? What is it all about? Does it interfere with regular park attractions or is it in a separate location?

I booked our trip for the 2nd-9th October (offsite) and had no idea about this festival. What is involved and do I want to avoid it? We're travelling with 3 kids; 8,6&4.

Will it be terribly busy the first week of the festival or will it be steady throughout?

Thanks :)

There are parts of it that cost extra for seminars, etc. Otherwise there are food and wine booths set up around the World Showcase where you can buy food and wine from the different countries.

If you just want to walk around WS it won't be too bad.

Having been to the festival in the past, my recommendation is to avoid it on Friday & Saturday evenings, especially if the other parks are closed. WS can get very crowded at that time.

Otherwise, it's usually not too bad (crowds) and there are some wonderful dishes to try. You'll have a great time!

Avoid it? By no means! I specifically go in October to enjoy the festival!! ::yes:: That said, I'd do other parks on Friday and Saturday afternoons/evenings since the F&W Festival is VERY popular with the locals, too!!

There are dinners, seminars, and wine tastings that you can do that cost extra, but we've never done them. We did the *free* Samuel Adams beer tasting/lecture and do laps around World Showcase sampling all the different foods, desserts, and drinks as we go. The days we do the F&W Festival we don't make PS for meals....we do laps around World Showcase with a roll of $1's....eat as you go, sample this, sample that, etc. SO much good food to try...and so much, you can't sample it all (at least not for one or even two meals...)

GO! EAT! DRINK! ENJOY!!!!!

New Zealand lamb chops, watermelon water, more lamb chops........I can taste them already. Can't wait for Nov. 12th to arrive. 2 days to eat our way around the world (to the right then to the left) before our 4 day Wonder cruise. :boat: But Epcot is usually very :crowded:

You're going to be at WDW at a wonderful time of year!

F&W is GREAT! There is sooooo much YUMMY food to taste. Most samples only cost from $1 to $4.The maple fudge and cheddar cheese soup in Canada are delicious!

I recommend going during the week as Fri and Sat do get quite crowded especially in the evenings.

Here's a link to a whole lot of info we have on F&W at the DIS:http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/epcot/events/index.htm

ENJOY!!!

Great time of year to go. The F&W was a lot of fun. There were many dishes that it was nice to have the opprtunity to try. My DH & I shared and that left more room to sample and kept cost down. But if at all possible a must must must do is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Check your dates and see if you can go. It was awesome. My children (3,1,and 1) all loved it.There is a pinned thread here with all the info.;)
