EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, Sept. 25 - Nov 16 2015

I agree. I'm one of those people who go to the MK on a party day for RD then hop over to Epcot for afternoon and evening F&W fun.

But, I'm not sure I would do that on a Sunday due to the weekend crowds.
Ugh. I try to avoid the big crowds plus have a 6 yr old so don't want the drunk rowdy crowd. Problem is F&W is only Friday thru Monday when we're there. I thought people ending vacay going home on Sunday would mean slightly less crowded Sunday night. Plus EMH hours are elsewhere.

that happened to me two days ago and the castmenber had screwed up and cancelled my pp and booked the wine seminar and then was refunding my credit card i almost hit the roof i was so angry, especially since it took her an hour to screw up my reservation
This happened to me today kind of, the CM said so many people had tried to fix my reservation that the file had become corrupt and it would not let anyone make anymore changes to it so all she could do was to refund my money and redo the reservation. I spent a little over an hour on the phone and everything looks right on MDE and I have reservation numbers for both the dessert party and the drink seminar. I hope no one else has to go through this

To be honest, when I go I avoid Epcot on the weekends. But I do think the whole "drunk rowdy crowd" idea is way overblown here on the DIS.

You have people who focus on the one group of loud people they see and report back there "it's full of drunk rowdy crowds" in spite of the thousands upon thousands of other people who were there and weren't loud. Then you have the people who see someone who stumbles, or is ill, and automatically assume it's because the person is drunk. But I've read reports by people who were ill or stumbled, even though they had nothing to drink, but were accused of being drunk because the observer just assumed that was the case.

Do you really think your six year old will be traumatized if there are some happy, loud people around? I doubt the six year old would even notice. It seems mostly adults who are constantly on the look out who see what they think they're going to see.

But it's known that the weekends are more crowded because that's when it's easier for people who live locally to visit the festival. It's not vacationers making up the majority of those huge weekend crowds.

Monday will be your best day. I've also read people can have success on the weekends if you get to WS right when the booths open at 11 a.m. and leave early afternoon when the crowds build.

I am less worried about the drunks then the irrate parents making comments about that. If you go with the perceived view I'm sure you will find something to reinforce what you already decided.

But it will be crowded on Sunday night anytime the Magic Kingdom closes early people seem to go to Epcot. That's no different for the Christmas party or any other event.

It's really not any different from the Brazilian tour group comments. For some reason Brazilian tour groups are rude but American teenagers acting like a brats are not a problem LOL

Personally I will take the "drunks" over the kids whose parents think that anything their kid does is wonderful even if it interferes with everyone else in the park

I have never been to F&W but would expect to see a fair number of rowdy drunks many places on a Friday or Saturday night including a local sports bar. It's not mild drunk or rowdy I'm wary of, it's the swearing & racial slurs that often accompany them. If this doesn't happen at Disney then I'm thrilled

I have no illusions about kid behavior. My kid is expected to behave at all times, including on vacation. Our last trip to DisneyWorld was ruined by my sister's kids who whined and complained the whole time.

If a drunk gets out of line I expect Disney will move them along.

What most of the 'naysayers' see is people oeople acting loud etc. I was there with a running group a few years ago. The next night we were doing half marathon so drinking was minimal or nonexistent. But we were touring the park in a big group, wearing matching shirts and making fun of each other. I am sure some of the "judges" just knew we were drunk

I don't care about rowdy or joking etc. I have been drunk or rowdy, occasionally both though it's been a long time :). When it's crowded & people invade my personal space & make rude comments, I care. I would rather see people let loose at someplace they are likely not driving home from though if it's lots of locals that maybe moot. But if you don't bother me I won't judge you. I'm glad to hear CMs will remove people if needed, as it has been mentioned on other threads that nothing is done

I am really just excited about finally getting to F&W & trying to work out logistics.

I know there is a list somewhere on the boards with names of people attending special events and dates. I can't find it to save my soul. Anyone know where it is?

Where are these comments coming from, invading your personal space and such. I have on occasion seen a drunk person at epcot they never invaded my space but plenty of others who let their kids do what ever they because hey its disney have invaded my personal space.

I go to Food and Wine every year and the last time I saw a rowdy group of drunks was about 5 years ago, I see an occasional person but never large groups that is one reason I can't believe all of the reports here because i go often so I should be seeing more of them if they indeed exist

That's probably because you don't look at a group walking around together and automatically assume "rowdy drunks" A lot of DIS posters do. It's the same as when they see ANY Brazilian kids it's "Rude group" even if it's 4 girls sitting there playing on their phones (but apparently American kids doing the same thing is not an issue LOL!) And if you really want to watch people get hysterical have a group wearing "Drink Around the World" T shirts. Even if it's the first country and they haven't had anything to drink the "temperance patrol" will start saying things. As I said we had a group with T Shirts that said something about the "world" (Not drink but I am not outing my friends LOL!) and we were probably rowdy, but we were ALL sober. I am sure at least some posters on here would have pointed to us as "Rowdy drunks" LOL!

I go every year and I generally venture in on Saturday evening at least to hike to the PFTS and while I don't enjoy it, the "drunks" aren't the issue. The place is just packed! But if you can find a place to sit and watch you can see the "temperance" group make nasty comments. What's amazing is that they do this as if the people around them are deaf which actually encourages some groups to just act rowdy to upset them.

Actually I think you are probably less likely to be able to get drunk on Friday or Saturday evening. They only give you two small beers per person and the lines are LONG!

I think I've only ever seen one rowdy drunk group, but I leave epcot by 2pm on f&w days. They were more amusing then anything they were trying to dress up the huge troll in the norway shop and take pictures with him. They were redirected easily by cm's. I always thought there was a limit to amount of drinks per license?

Well, I went to buy the Discovery Sampler for 9/25 and I can't. I'm going to the Burger Party that night and the computer says my plans are conflicting. I had no intention to go to the Eat to the Beat Concert, anyways. Have all day for the Sampler. Frustrating.

I'm glad someone else has had the same amount of very limited experience with rowdy drunks. I also make sure I'm out of Epcot by 4:00 (except on Eat to the Beat concerts I want to see), and never go to Epcot on weekends. Rarely have I seen anyone drunk.

Perhaps create another Disney account and do it that way...I did this due to similar issue with "conflicting" Deminars.
