***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

LOL, we got ours as a gift from friends, we can't wait to use it at this year's PFTS. Definitely put it in the suitcase!

I'm a newbie to the F&W Festival this year. I've been reading some older posts and found one regarding lanyards. Does Disney provide and/or can you purchase at the event or is it better to bring from home?

Also, does this mean that there are glasses or something handed out at the Food & Wine festival for all the wine tasting? Or would the lanyard only really work for the PFTS?

Any advice you have would be appreciated. Thanks for all the great posts on how to pay for everything.
:cool1:

I have a question too!

We're going to be on the Dining Plan and are saving all our snack credits for F&W booths. Do glitchy credit card machines also affect DDP users, since we have to swipe our room cards or whatever? I am thinking yes....

Also, have you guys already dissected this year's booth food offerings in this thread? I just saw them on MousePlanet and am curious to know if they are missing a lot of past favorites...

domiii & TDC Nala -
Thanks for the replies re: the Odyssey...I'm going to walk by that area just to see what it looks like when we're there in Nov.!

They give you a glass as you enter the PFTS. The one I have from last year has the year etched on it. As we were exiting the event we were given a sturdy plastic bag to carry our glass in.

I noticed lots of people going to the PFTS on 10/18, but haven't seen anyone mention 10/11 yet :(

At PFTS you are issued a glass, but no lanyard. The lanyards are something you would have to get yourself. As far as I know, PFTS is the only event I have been to where you get an actual glass to take home.

Still looking for an indication that the booth list is final. If it is they're missing about one dish per booth.

I am considering 10/11. Got to get the schedule ironed out. Plus I am doing the Race for the Taste at the crack of dawn Sunday.......

I know that Kabuki and her hubby will be attending PFTS on October 11th, as will my hubby and me.

Is anyone else here going to be attending that night?

No doubt you will find Kabuki and me dueling over the remnants of the cheese table. :rotfl2:

All joking aside, if you happen to see us please say hello - it's always nice to meet fellow food-lovin' DISers at these events! :goodvibes

We're doing a second Party, just not sure when until the schedule comes out. It'll either be 10/11, 10/25, or 11/8 at this point because of our schedule.

Kteacher, we will be at PFTS on 10/11........our first time...........we are F&W virgins :)

YEA!:cool1:
I hope you BOTH enjoy PFTS!
Thanks!!! I know I will... maybe DH can be the designated table holder. ;)

I am curious about this, also!

We'll miss you by a week, but I do hope you write another review of the PFTS and the rest of your foodie findings during your trip! ::yes::

Yes! We will be at the PFTS on the 11th and we are bringing a NEWBIE to F&W and PFTS but she shares my love of stinky cheese! WAIT WHAT WAS I THINKING! :headache:

I can't believe it's all so close!:yay:

We'll be there on 10/11 as well so just move to the side when the doors open...... I'll be the crazy guy with an empty glass in search of wine...

Dh and I feel very, very fortunate that we will be doing Party for the Senses 3 times: Oct. 4, 11, and 18th.
After the 11th, I am also getting up very early to run in Race for the Taste. I'm sure I'll have fun, but I will definitely be slow!

In answer to your first question yes they can also have issues with the credit card machine glitches.

Secondly, the list I am hoping isn't a full list. Disney tends to only release a sample of items and the list seems to show this. From when I've been in the past (2 years ago) we had:
Montreal, Canada - Cheddar Cheese Soup is fantastic
Boston, USA - Not tried
San Francisco, USA - Not tried
Buesnes Aires, Argentina - Didn't like the Grilled Beef with Chimichurri Sauce
Santiago, Chille - Think I tried the Dulce de Leche and it was OK
Mexico City, Mexico - Chilaquiles & Quesadilla con Chorizo were good
Reims, France - Champagne good Chocolates rubbish
Lyon, France - Quiche Provencal very nice
Munich, Germany - Apple Strudel is to die for
Athens, Greece - I love the Greek Salad
Cork, Ireland - Potato and Leek soup is great
Bolgne, Italy - Nothing listed I've tried
Barcelona, Spain - Cold Tomato & Garlic Soup was OK
Vienna, Austria - New this year but the Beef Goulash was on another stand in previous years and was nice
Krakow, Poland - Not tried anything
San Juan, Puerto Rico - Again not tried anything
Marrakesh, Morocco - Spicy Chicken Roll (Bastilla) I love
Cape Town, South Africa - Bobotie with Mango Chutney I didn't like, the Durban Spiced Chicken I wasn't fussed on
New Delhi, India - Samosas were alright but the Tamarind Sauce I didn't like
Tokyo, Japan - Only like Veggie Sushi and they don't do any
Wellington, New Zealand - The Lamb Slider was OK as was the Kiwi Meringue Tart
Melbourne, Australia - The Lamb Chops were over cooked
European Cheemonger - New this year
Great Beers - Doesn't sell food just beer but Brahma is the best!

Looks like you have more sense than any of the rest of us! :rotfl:

When you get back,it would be so interesting if you'd post what you thought of the three parties--what was different, the same and so on. :flower3:

I'd like to add my request to this one ... it would be wonderful to know about the different offerings at each PFTS and see how much things change from week to week.

We've done three before, a couple times, and definitely by the last one we were starting to "drag" and not enjoy it as much. I'm curious to hear if that's just us!

I've been undecided about doing a City Taste, and DH suggested trying a third PftS again this year but then asked himself if we'd run into the same "drag" as we had before. Part of the problem for us is that if we do a PftS, the weekend is shot - if we do anything in the parks beforehand, we're too worn out at the Party, and Sunday is the "food hangover" day.

And oh man, I just realized that this year we won't be able to walk around PI after the Party ends :(

The parties are DEFINITELY different one to another - some of them more enjoyable than others, some of them have different feeling crowds, even.

I remember one year, one party, there were *three* different types of cheeks as dishes - grouper cheeks, veal cheeks, and one other. Maybe another veal cheeks. Apparently they're supposed to be some of the best part of the animal, but even back when I ate meat, I couldn't bring myself to try it.

(On an aside, we haven't done, and still aren't doing any of the sit down dinners just because I'm vegetarian, and DH doesn't like seafood - PftS are much easier for us to navigate)

We will see you on Oct 4th. Debated about the Race, but we are walkers not runners....then compared the price - hey that is almost a dinner at V/A's....we do have priorities  as fun as the Race is. We have been the cheering squad in the past.....

I'm lousy at doing reviews, but I will keep track of the differences in the 3 different Parties we're going to and let you know what I think.

I'm a walker too, although my adrenalin was so pumped at my only other race that I ran almost the entire time (and paid for it later). Glad to have you as as part of the cheering squad.:goodvibes
