Epcot Fireworks - Rose & Crown or Fireworks Cruise? Which would you choose?

We booked a rose and crown dinner, not package, while we were in the park on our Epcot day back in August. We were seated outside under the awning and they removed umbrellas in front of us prior to fireworks. The package seating area is lower down. When we asked about watching the fireworks our waiter said we would be able to see ‘most‘ of them from our table but if we wanted to step to their viewing area away from the awning to watch to let him know and he would hold our food order until after the fireworks. We chose to stay put which in hindsight was a mistake as we could not see all that we wanted. I would definitely do the regular dinner reservation again but this time ask to watch fireworks from the viewing area they have if you are at all under the awning. Also I had wanted a boat cruise, called right at sixty days and almost weekly after that and nothing was ever available. We’ve done the cruise several times and loved it. But it was unbookable this time around. An 830 rose and crown reservation I booked at 7pm that day WAS possible instead.
That was my play in Sept of last year. In Nov it was dead- unless the CM fibbed and they never said we could view from another area. I’d love to hear from someone who sat under the awning post Nov ‘22 with a normal package and a view of the lake?

Over the many years, we've been able to get outside seats to view Illuminations quite a few times so I refuse to now pay for them.💸 On our last trip, we were seated just above the area for the dining package and left before the show. This package worked for Illuminations for the most part and probably does for Epcot Forever but I'm curious if it will work for Luminous since it wasn't that great for the previous show. I would definitely be more interested in a Fireworks Cruise if I could ever convince DH.

Totally spare of the moment and completely organic, this is what we did:
We decided to take a rest and ended up at the courtyard just to the left of Rose and Crown around 7:30om. No one else was there. We grabbed a table by the wall, DH got a drink and a few things from the Irish booth and we planted ourselves. We enjoyed the cool evening, just last week, and talked with folks from around the U.S. and England. Before we knew it was 8:15 and we said, “Well, guess we’ll stay for fireworks!”
It was one of the loveliest evenings we’ve spent in Epcot.☺️
