I am not too famliar with EPCOT resort area, nor have we ever taken the EPCOT monorail.

Is this something we can do to have dinner at CM's one night, without using a park ticket to get into EPCOT?

We are staying at the YC. :goodvibes

You have a couple of option to get from YC to Chef Mickey's.

You can walk from YC all the way through Epcot to the monorail. (yes you would need a park pass to do this and yes it is a rather long walk all the way through the World Showcase and Future World) That monorail will take you to the TTC where you will switch monorails (get on the resort monorail) to get to the Contemporary resort.

Or you can take the bus to MK from the YC. Once at MK you can walk to the Contemporary or take the monorail or boat. This would be the quickest option.

Thank you, but we really wanted to try the EPCOT monorail

Can we take a cab from YC to the EPCOT monorail?

Maybe I'm not understanding this.....its the EPCOT monorail inside EPCOT, so what ever you do, you have to be in the park to take it?

To get to CM without using a park admission the fastest way would be to take the bus to the MK. You can then walk to the CR or take the monorail over as the CR is the first stop on the monorail.
You can not however take the boat to the CR, the boats only go to the GF and the Poly, and FW and WL. You could take the boat to the WL and then get off that boat and take the boat to the CR but that would be long and involved.
You could even walk to DHS and get the bus to the CR, it takes about 15 minutes to walk from the YC to DHS.

No, it's not inside the park, but it's at the main entrance which is exactly opposite of where the YC is. So the only way to walk there is to go through the park. Which requires a park ticket.

Yes, you could take a cab from the YC to Epcot, then walk from the cab area to the Epcot main entrance to get on the Epcot monorail to the TTC. Then get off that monorail and get on the Resort Monorail to the Contemporary. But this sounds like a big hassle to me.

My advice is to take a bus to MK and then hop on the Resort Monorail to get to the Contemporary. You'll still get a monorail experience. And save yourself a lot of time, money, and headache.

The Epcot monorail is all the way at the entrance to FW, you would have to walk all the way through Epcot, which would mean using a park ticket and then board the monorail after exiting Epcot. The Epcot monorail then goes around parts of FW and then over to the TTC and back to Epcot.
If you really want to ride the monorail around Epcot, why not wait until a day you are actually in Epcot, then just exit at FW and ride the monorail. If your time is limited, you might consider walking over to DHS, take the TTC bus from there, and then just get on the Epcot monorail at the TTC, this way you are not using a park admission at all.
You could certainly take a cab from the YC over to the TTC, it probably would not cost too much.

You can certainly ride the Epcot monorail without going into the park. Either do round trip from TTC or take a bus from almost anywhere to the Epcot entrance and then board the monorail, or do the reverse. We usually spend our first half day riding the boats and monorails and exploring the hotels. Your easiest route is boat to MGM, walk to Epcot bus and then board the monorail to ttc and switch to resort monorail to CM.
