Epcot 30: Lurkyloo-king Back on Tomorrow: Celebrating Epcot's REAL Birthday New 11/12

no food reviews?? Jeesh lady ;)

Hmmm.... I guess nothing was memorable enough beyond the weird cheese-and-ketchup toast, non-chocolate chocolate brulee, and too-spicy hand roll in Japan! Let's see...

  • Poland's pierogi and sausage were quite tasty!
  • New Zealand's scallop was OK but slightly rubbery
  • Germany's ham-and-noodle thing was cheesy and warm and delightful
  • China's dim sum tasted just like what you normally get there
  • France's Coq au Vin was OK, if a little tough

How am I doing...? :teeth:

OK, so, I have to admit, I have never seen all the movies... I blame the kids really. Some days we wanted to, but just didn't have it in u to "make" them sit still! I plan on doing it this next trip though! They are both old enough now that they can sit still, and actually get what they are seeing! We're taking days off of school, so really, it is the least I can do academically speaking.

LOL—that's true! I mean they really will learn something about each country, even if it's all the Hollywood celebrities who are secretly Canadians (my favorite part of the Canada movie).

You got an awful lot of photos at the "no photos" D23 Epcot Presentation... are you on some kind of "most wanted" list? :rotfl2:

I love all that Disney history and lore... but Epcot... I have mixed feelings about it... World Showcase has "flow"... but Future World :scratchin... I don't think it has good flow...:confused3... some of the attractions are individually good and I'm a huge nerd for Spaceship Earth -"behold the Sistine Ceiling"... but I'm trying to get it...

(I'd love to go to a D23 event but I want to go to the ones in California... ;) I love DL and I think CA is showing lots of promise with its recent updates... its interesting because I think that non CA residents actually like that park more than CA natives... I'm dying to see the Carthay Theatre/Restaurant redo and the Trolley Cars and Carsland, etc...) btw I really like your like blog and if I might suggest an addition... have you ever thought about doing something on LA?

I'm so pleased for you that the peanut butter & chocolate cake is back at the Boardwalk Bakery...:thumbsup2 I'm going to have to try that... What is it about the chocolate-peanut butter combo? I love hot chocolate ... but just plain chocolate cake... yes or no... but peanut butter and chocolate? That combo is like legal drugs...:faint:

Way to show the WS movies some love!!! I always say I want to stay and watch them, but I think the fastest I ever power walk in my life is that sprint through Norway!!

China is a great country to be stuck in in the rain!! Japan's another good one, but the layout of Mitsukoshi seems to create big pockets of crowds when its busy!

Thank you for sharing your trip I am really enjoying your report.

Glad to hear it! :goodvibes

That's the thing—the Future World of today is a disaster! So all the stuff they were talking about at the anniversary celebration had to be prior to 1994. It was kind of depressing to be seeing all this cool stuff Epcot used to have and be continually reminded how bad things are now.

I'm always afraid to tweet and post non-Disney stuff cuz I figure Disney is all that readers want from me. I should at least do a post on Walt Disney's LA, though. Spill all the secrets of the tour we like to give out-of-towners!

I agree! Mitsukoshi is crazy when it rains. China's gift shop just has the kind of wide-open space you need to absorb those crowds. (Also, I am a champion Norway sprinter myself!) :teeth:

OK, I thought readers of my Tokyo Disney trip report would find this interesting:

Remember when I went to 100% Chocolate Cafe in Tokyo? Well I just found its Canadian counterpart today in Vancouver!

Interestingly, they offered a drink VERY similar to the Ghirardelli Drinking Chocolate I had at the Food & Wine Festival Center in this last update—except it was about 10 times as big for only $7 CAD!

They serve it with a glass of water (I guess to dilute it so you don't bomb your tummy?) and a piece of chocolate you're supposed to eat at the end. HEAVEN!

Wish you were here... :teeth:

It's time for me to chime in...:rolleyes1

I've read everything you've written, from your pre-wedding plans to this. And I love it! You are a fantastic writer!

Also, my sister is responsible for acosting you at the Wave 2 years ago. Sorry! We're fans...:)

Anyway, keep it up. This is a great report! Love it!

There was plenty of time to run back and shoot the special merchandise, which you had to pre-order with a form and then pay shipping and handling to have mailed to you. I thought that was a little disappointing, and the price of shipping jumped to a jaw-dropping $15 for purchases over $25, so I bought less than I’d planned to, just the event logo pin.

Have you received the pin you ordered yet? I ordered 3 t-shirts, gave them my billing info on 10/26, my card was charged... and I haven't gotten the shirts yet. I called the number we were given to call in with our billing and left 3 messages on the voice mail requesting tracking information for my order, but received no response and now there's a message saying that voice mail box is no longer being used for messages and got redirected to the d23 guest relations line. That voice mail box is full, so I tried emailing to the d23 guest relations email address and am waiting to see if I get a response from that.

I'm just trying to determine if I'm actually getting my merch or I need to dispute the charge.

I remember you two! :goodvibes Nice to "meet" you again! Glad you're enjoying the report.

That is very weird. We did get the pin, maybe 2 weeks ago? I wonder if they ran out of stock on the shirts. I hope guest relations gets back to you—I might have a phone number somewhere if you need it.

Mmmm. I wish I had a cup of drinking chocolate on my desk here at work to drink right now. That might make this Friday go by a bit quicker!

Edited to add: I had to add 'a cup of' to that line there after I read it. For a moment there I was picturing my entire desk covered in drinking chocolate and me sitting here licking it up. I wouldn't mind so much but my boss might not be so happy . . .

Seems like a good day. I love taking the boats at Disney.

Both chocolate drinks look good.

Yes!!! Boats are one of my absolute favorite things about WDW. I wish we could have them at Disneyland somehow... At least there's Storybookland. :lovestruc

I was a tad behind in updates...as is my way apparenlty...but have finally completed my reading of your adventures in lounges, lines and lizards.

Enjoying it a always.

Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving!

I did, and I hope you did as well! I guess by now I'm a tad behind in updates too! :teeth:

OK, so... I have a really REALLY good excuse for not updating this report in so long... I was planning our anniversary vow renewal trip to Aulani and WDW!:banana::banana::banana:

AulaniWedding0006.jpg

So the bad news is.... I've switched over to writing that trip report at the moment. But the good news is, our vow renewal photos won't be ready for a while, so when I get as far as I can go with THAT trip report, I'll be back over here updating THIS one! Promise! :teeth:

So in the meantime, if you're bored, check out
