I'm debating whether or not to purchase an '06 Entertainment book as they don't have many local places that we like, so I'd essentially be using it for the rental car coupon for our trip. Can anyone share with me the amounts of the discounts for National & Alamo? We're going for 9 days in January & I'd buy it if the coupon was worth it.

TIA! :)

I'm looking for the 2006 entertainment coupons for National. Anyone have any, or can someone give me the codes.

From the 2006 entertainment book

Alamo- $20 off weekend rental
One free day (max 5-day rental)
One free upgrade (compact, midsize or economy)
$15 off max 3-day rental
Up to $20 off per weekend rental (midsize or suv)
$25 off min. 3 day rental

National-one class car upgrade (compact thru fullsize)
two car class upgrade (compact thru intermediate)
$20 off weekly rental (compact thru fullsize)
one free weekend day (compact thru fullsize)

Not to Hijack the thread but what about airlines with discounts in them? Can anyone tell me what airlines have discount and at what price would it come into play.
Thanks,
Shelby

would you be able to PM me with the coupon numbers? I need 2 car class upgrade and the $20 off. I subscribe to the site, but am unable to see the 2006 coupon codes. It would really help me plan ahead with the car rental.

If you scroll down, you will find a thread that I started a few days ago. I found a link for coupons that don't expire (National) for $20 off a weekly rental, one car class upgrade, and one free weekend day. I am not purchasing the Entertainment book this year because that's about the only coupon we use.

The thread is about Entertainment National coupon codes. I started off by asking for the 2006 codes because I was planning to purchase the book.

letsbgoofy-
I actually looked at that thread (on another page now) before I posted and the link on there are sending me to a page with either BJs discounts (I'm not a member) that expire in 2005 or to an AMEX page (again not a member). There are some coupon codes posted over there for National that do give the 20$ off or 1 free weekend day, but of course, if you plan to use them you need to have purchased the book for yourself.

If you have a direct link to some National coupons that expire in 2006, and are not from the Entertainment book, please post them here, I simply cannot locate them based on the info you provided.

Thanks! :)

Karen,

The coupons I printed off don't require any membership or buying the Entertainment book. I looked through the wording carefully. They do have a contract ID (I used the Priceless code instead), that might be for someplace like BJs. My confirmation doesn't say anything about any affiliation with the coupon - if you use the Entertainment coupon it shows up as "Entrtainment coupon" on your confirmation.

The free weekend day says that it requires a Saturday night, but I rented from Sunday to Wednesday and the system took the coupon.

No matter what coupon or code I have used, I have never been asked my National for anything other than my Emerald Aisle card and the coupon. I have used the AMEX code and not been asked for my AMEX card (I do have one), and used many Entertainment coupons and never been asked for the card that comes in the book. I used a Sam;s Club code once and was not asked for my card either.

Interesting...but the link to the coupons on that thread does say that they expire in 2005....perhaps you can post the link here in case I can't find the one you used.

We've had the opposite experience and have been asked for an AMEX card (luckily we had one at the time) and also for a BJ's card (we were members back then). Neither time was at MCO, so maybe we we asked because it was a less busy airport, but I'm not willing to take that chance when starting on vacation, guess I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Here are the 2 links I found on the other thread you mentioned:
http://a1884.g.akamai.net/7/1884/36...s.com/promotion/bjs/carrental/BJ_national.pdf
All those say that the rental must begin my Dec 31, 2005

http://www.americanexpressofferzone...&searchtype=category&ctgryid=219&countrycd=us
This says it must be charged to an AMEX card and also expires on 12/31/05.

Not trying to argue with you, but if you do have a link to a coupon that doesn't expire until the end of 2006, please post the info, we'd all appreciate it! :)

did you actually try the code for 20$ from the page that letsbgoofy linked to....

even though it says expires 2005, the national system seems to accept it..

code xxxxxx58

lawgs-thanks for the post, I just don't see a code with 58 on the end of it. I tried to search the posts that letsbgoofy has posted to and I see lots of coupon code but they expire before we're going, you have to give the coupon to the clerk when you are driving out of the ramp, so it would need to expire in 2006.

I've tried the Ent codes that were posted and they do work, but you need to buy it. I'm just trying to see if there is anything out there that would give me the same savings, just not have to buy the book or be part of a club, credit card, etc....

Thanks again for the post.

welovedis,

The writing is so small, I thought it said 06 not 05. I'm not sure why the system took the coupon when we are going in 8/06.

Yeah, I had to click on my little magnifying glass to see that it said 2005. Ok, I thought I was going crazy! :)

Thanks to a fellow DISer for offering me their coupons!!!

welovedis

me bad....it was 53

sorry for the misinformation, when i looked at what i wrote down it looked like an 8

funny how there are two coupons with the same number

one for save 5% to 25% ( 2005 date)

second the regular 20$ off for the week ( 2005 date )

when you use the code it comes up as coupon accepted and 20$ off.....dunno what is going on ....even when you use it for 2006 booking

but it does accept it

I ended up using the Entertainment coupon for 2006. Now I either have to buy the book (which we never use) or beg for a coupon!

Sorry about all the misinformation. I assumed when the site took the coupon that it did actually say 2006.

As the date gets closer, someone may post a coupon link. Another option is to sign up for a free trial on the entertainment website. (Just click to sign then scroll down for new customers) After the free trial the price is $3.99 per month, but you can cancel after the free trial and not pay a penny. The site is www.entertainment.com
I plan to print the coupon from the site too.

deelam,

Thanks, I think I will try the free trial and get my coupon. We have always purchased the book in the past, but I don't think we use it for anything but the National coupon. So many of the restaurants are "not valid Saturdays".

deelam,

I just looked for the free trial and can't find anything. I also couldn't find a place to use the site monthly. What am I doing wrong??

letsbgoofy

they do have the "link" on entertainment now for 20# off weekly rental, but now instead of directiing you to the coupon, it just brings up a reservation page with the contract id and coupon id already inserted

when you do a reservation, it comse back saying the coupon was accepted, however, methinks you will still have to have a "physical coupon" to present at check out

the update seems to have changed the way we can do things now

just sent a web email to entertainment.com to see what their angle on this is

when i get a repy will post it

Please let me know! I can't believe you could use the coupon code and not have to buy the book. I have always had to give National my coupon, so I'm guessing that's the catch.
