My son had an allergic reaction to the sunscreen (rash, eye swelled up) so i gave him a Benedryl and then he told me he was "a little grumpy". So, he slept under an umbrella at the HRH pool for close to 3 hours. Poor guy! Love the HRH pool. Our server, Tamera, was just awesome. She's pregnant and due in October - so of course, mommies that we are, we left a nice tip for her (on top of the 18%).
OK - so basically I have to say we don't really have anything bad to say about our USF vacations. We love coming here, staying at the Loews hotels, FOTL and just laying around the pool. I love bringing one of the dogs with us, but now that we have 3 Boxers and we fly instead of drive, it's impossible. And, of course, on this trip they were filming a PBS special with one of the winners from the first Amazing Race and the hotel guests' pets were in it with him!!!! I wish they could've been in it! Don't you agree???
Anyway - back to vacation. The adults went out Saturday night. We ordered room service for the kids, but 2 of the orders came up wrong. They took them back and brought back the correct order and didn't charge me for it. I thought that was very nice and probably my only complaint. But, they were so accommodating, I can't even classify it as a complaint! So, we adults had fun bar hopping and dancing the night away at CW. Me & DH like to do that at least once while we're at USF.
Sunday was the same - parks in the a.m., back to the pool, then back to the parks later. It's a nice pace. No reason to rush. Don't have to "make a plan". Our friends are now spoiled by it and will never stay off-property again. Coming back from the park, the kids jump in a surrey to take them to the hotel and we adults walk. We get to the pool area and one of those (I SWEAR IT WAS!) Mummy black beetles lands on my shoulder and I do the whole "get this *&%@ bug off me!" dance. Threw my bags on the ground. It was a good chuckle for everyone... even me later. (My husband says each time I tell the story, the bug gets bigger... hmmm, ya think?)
Monday is departure day - but not til evening. Everyone's super tired, so we go in the am to the park to have the kids' caricature done (we do every year), then head back to the pool for the day. No one is willing to budge, so we just lay around and swim and eat. The limo was supposed to pick us up at 6:00 pm, but was there at 5:30, so we loaded up and headed to the airport for our "supposed" 7:55 pm flight. Flight was delayed. Got to board about 8 pm, but then, we circled over South Carolina for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. We pulled in front of our house around 2:45 am. Immediately called work and left a voicemail that I WILL be taking another vacation day!
It was a great vacation. Short, but still fun. I love Florida... it is like my second home. We'll be back to Ft. Lauderdale for Thanksgiving. I just wish it wasn't so far away!
