I came over from the UK for the last week of Aug and the 1st week of Sep and we rarely had to queue longer than half an hour, using the Fasttrack passes where possible.
The best thing we did though to avoid queues was to go straight to the major rides at all the parks first as the queues for these were heavy later on.
We went the third week in August last year. It was a little crowded. We were told that the next week would be great as far as crowds go. Labor Day week-end gets pretty crazy. I would get to the parks early, do EE and FastPass, leave the EE park at lunchtime and hop on over to a different park. Drink plenty of water too. You might even want to avoid MK on Labor Day week-end.
We've gone the last week in August for the past two years, and the crowds have not been bad at all! We did EE some days, used FastPass, and never had to wait for any ride for more than 20 minutes or so. I did notice it getting more crowded as it got closer to Labor Day (the Friday & Saturday before).

We were there both those weeks too. I agree, minimal waits, especially when using EE and FPs. I think we maybe had 2 20 minutes waits over those 2 trips. Id guess 50-75% of our rides were walk ons and the rest were 5-10 minutes waits.
Well, that's a relief! We have been fortunate to have been able to go to WDW in May, or October. But with my present school job, I just can't go during our school year So, we're also planning for the 3rd/4th week of August.
We went the last week of August, crowds were very manageable. The heat wasn't all that bad, every afternoon a storm would roll in like clockwork and cool it down considerably. In fact DH and I went back alone in October, is was more crowded and hotter.
I'm going in the end of August as well, with most of the schools down south back in session I should think that might cut down on the crowds a little bit.
WE will be going the 17th through 27th. We have usually gone in May or January in the past, when crowds have been very light. From what I read, many schools are in session by the time we will be going (or many people take vacation earlier in summer) and the crowds will not be too bad.
The middle and end August is a excellent time to WDW. The crowds is not that bad. Most southern schools is in session at the time. We may start early in the summer by our off days come durning the school year. Our school have just about every hoilday off known to man during the school year.
Just remember if go in August drink plenty of water and put on sunscreen.
Last year when we were there, it was pretty hot and very humid. I'm guessing it was high 80's, low 90's every day. That's not too bad, but when you add in the humidity... yuck! We would walk from our room to the bus stop at ASSp, and by the time we got there, I felt like I needed another shower! But EVERY afternoon, a storm would roll in and it would cool things off.
