On Disney Unwrapped. I almost died laughing when the CM mentioned Emu legs! The Dis has surely made an impact on Disney. :teeth: Wonder how many Disers have asked for Emu instead of turkey. :p

and weigh between 40-50 lbs.....can you believe those legs....that is alot of meat.....and they go thru alot during the day

Yes I noticed that too. They seemed to make quite a point that the legs are in fact Turkey legs, not emu or anything else. I've never had one of those legs, they just don't appeal to me at all but people seem to love them!

I actually went up to the Turkey leg cart in Frontierland - asked if I could cut in the (long!) line for a minute and took a picture of one of these things! I couldn't believe people actually gnawed on them. DH thought it looked like I was making fun of all the folks in line. I didn't think of that and then felt bad.

But I still think they are bizarre!

I was hoping Unwrapped was going to tell us what they do with the rest of the bird!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably the same thing that happens to the majority of turkeys in the US - - -

They are processed into those turkey slices you put in your sandwiches . . .

I laughed when I heard that on the Unwrapped special! It really does amaze me to watch people eat those. :teeth:

Those legs are the best, but how would you like trying to cook a 40-50 # turkey for Thanksgiving?

Well now that is all cleared up. No doubts left in the corner hiding on the fact they are really TURKEY!!!

That's what they want you to believe. I suppose if WDW can grow a mouse (Mickey) that's 5 feet tall, they can find 50 pound turkeys. :teeth:

I loved the Emu reference. I almost fell off the couch.

I caught it too. It made me laugh.

I do think it's all a plot to make us believe they are turkey legs. ;)

I spit my pop out when she mentioned that! I still think they taste more like ham. Maybe it is the salt cure and the way they roast them.

I caught the Emu reference as well...

a 40-50 pound turkey?...that's one big bird!

I was wondering if they use the rest of the turkey at the Liberty Tree Tavern all-you-can-eat Character Dinner.......

oops....almost forgot....i have at least one turkey leg each trip...

My poor dh couldn't understand why I was laughing so hard at the Emu comment!! Eating one of those 'turkey' legs is something I think I would want to do in private. It looks a little uncivilized, gnawing away at that thing!!

I was watching with my family. When they got to the turkey leg part, I made mention to my family that "on the DIS there is a thought that they are emu legs." Next, the person mentioned emu legs and my family thought that the DID must really influende Disney.

BTW, we were at Universal last weekend (5/29 - 6/1) and lo and behold....... they sell EMU legs too!!!!! :teeth:

I almost rolled :p

My DH and DS saw those emu/turkey legs and started drooling!

They can't wait to get their hands on one - DD and I said we'll meet you back at the AKL... :o

A 50 lb. turkey???? Can you even imagine?

<font color=navy>We noticed, and the kids asked me why I was laughing - I told them it's a joke on the DIS.

ahhhhhhhh

As soon as I saw them mention the legs, I just knew what was coming next!:) You reckon they've been eavesdropping?:)
