Emma & Scott's Wishes Wedding-10/16/12-WP/GF-*UPDATE-Planning Trip TR*

Officiant

Last night we received a lovely reply from Rev Jack Day and I am pleased that he has pencilled us in for the big day. I have read great things about him on here and am really looking forward to speaking to him.

We should receive our "Jack Pack" in the next 7-20 days, guessing closer to 20 for us as he is posting it to the UK?

We are hoping to write our own vows :lovestruc

I love your proposal story and the way you framed the pictures to remember the special night!

Emma! What a wonderful PJ. I am truly enjoying watching all of this unfold. You know what it is really interesting, you and I are getting married right around the same time. My future hubby and I are tying the knot on 10-14-2012 at WP and Atlantic Dance Hall (ADH). Maybe we will see you around beautiful Disney! I think it will be fun to follow each other and see how our weddings turn out (beautiful of course!).

I just adore your engagement story and the rose ring, that was so creative! And your friends and family are so sweet to have done all of that for your upon your return home. I love that your friends thought the firemen were strippers! :rotfl2: I can kind of see why they thought that.

So I want to give you my opinion on your dresses- they are amazing! All of them are wonderful choices. I like Polina, Alexis, and Reese the best. What stunning gowns! I am sure you will be gorgeous in any one of them.

Well, thank you so much for sharing your PJ with us and I look forward to following along.

If you want to take a look at my PJ it's right here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2798263

:woohoo:

Hi Courtenay, thank you for reading! I am off to read your PJ after this :yay:

I would love to share my planning journey with you :) Very exciting and we are almost at our 1 year countdown!!! xxx

Save the Dates

Last week we put together our Save the Dates with a newsletter telling our guests about the dates, our plans at SSR and DCL, DDP offer, Magical Express etc and the plans for our wedding day. We hope this will help them in booking their stay if not already booked. Over the weekend Scott's best man and his girlfriend have booked, as have one of my BMs and her boyfriend. Both couples have gone for 14 nights at SSR (9 confirmed guests as if today!)

My Dad printed our Save the Dates for us, using the same style as our engagement party invites and banners:

savethedatefinal.jpg

In each envelope we put one of these, a newsletter with some sparkly blue and silver hearts added :) and then a silver wedding sticker on the envelope

All done and ready for posting!!!

Since we have sent them out, 4 of my BMs have booked 10 nights at a 2 bedroom villa at SSR, we will now get ready here as we should have lots of space. I will also stay with them the night before so me and Scott do not see each other until I walk down the aisle.

My sister and her boyfriend have also booked 2 weeks at a studio in SSR, and another BM 10 nights at SSR. Mum and Brian have extended their stay by an additional 10 nights to make the most of the weekend.

EXCITING!!! Only a few more need to book now.

UK Reception

We have now booked and paid the deposit for our UK reception venue. This is booked for Saturday 10th November 2012. (One of our friends is getting married on the 3rd so gives us an extra week to settle back into normal life afer 18 amazing nights in the magic!)

The venue we have chosen is the Boxmoor Lodge in Hemel Hempstead where we live. Here it is from the outside:

We have hired the marquee for the night, here is a photo I took when we went to look around

lodgemarquee.jpg

Very pretty with the fairy lights and those flowers are there all the time too which will save us money on decorating the hall. Just centrepieces to add.

We have chosen to serve a hot buffet which is more formal than just finger foods, and we think will be nicer for our guests who are unable to come to the wedding to have a sit down meal. We now need to decide what kind of food we would like. The owner suggested an american buffet but I am guessing we may all be craving some nice english food after our wedding trip! We have a while to think about it yet though.

One of my BMs Rhianne has offered to make us a wedding cake too for this night as a present which will be lovely. Much more personal and thoughtful than us ordering one so looking forward to seeing that.

Scott and I will be staying here overnight as he also "threw in" the honeymoon suite for us.

We made a list and had around 120 people on it for the UK reception, not too sure when would be best to send out the invites for this though? Any ideas?!

Disneymoon Plans

Scott and I had originally booked 10 nights at SSR from 8-18th October 2012 for our "Planning trip". Now our wedding is on the 16th, we have extended our stay to 18 nights until the 26th, flying home on a Friday hopefully, no flights booked yet! This will give us the weekend to recover before going back to work :sad2:

We have a studio booked, and most of our guests will also be staying here. We have 21 day Disney tickets, and DDP throughout our stay.

We have also booked a 3 night Bahamian DCL Cruise departing on 18th October on the Disney Dream

For a honeymoon treat we have booked a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with a verandah.

Very excited for this cruise as it will give us chance to celebrate our new marriage on our own. :lovestruc Really looking forward to the yummy food and Disney entertainment! We can book any excursions or extras on board the ship in August, I am thinking definately a nice massage We will then return to SSR for 5 more nights, during which some of our guests will still be there.

We have decided to leave our SSR booking throughout the cruise as we will then be able to use the saved DDP credits for some lovely signature meals or even a dinner show as part of our Disneymoon over the last 5 nights, and also we will only have to take luggage with us for the 3 nights, everything else we can leave at SSR. Our other option was to rent DVC points for the last 5 nights but we think we will save money having the extra DDP credits to use. We can then save our Annual Passes we will receive for booking a Disney wedding for a future trip, 1st anniversary?! :rotfl:

As our Christmas presents to each other this year we are thinking of booking tickets to see La Nouba during our Disneymoon.

I need to look at the menus for the signature restaurants before we plan any ADRs, the only one we have visited is California Grill which we loved but are also going there in March, along with Jiko, so I would like to try something new.

Any suggestions as to the best ones? We are not fussy eaters.:thanks:

ADRs for March

I have now booked all of our ADRs for our planning trip in March.

Friday - Ohana dinner, then watch Wishes from the beach :lovestruc
Sunday - California Grill
Tuesday - Disney Wedding tasting session at the Grand Floridian 9,30am (Steak for breakfast!?)
Tuesday - Whispering Canyon Cafe
Thursday - Jiko dinner
Friday - Boma breakfast before we check out

YUMMY!!!

National Wedding Show - Earls Court, London
I had a lovely day at the National Wedding Show at Earls Court in London on Sunday with 4 of my BMs,

There were lots of cakes, stationary, entertainment, flowers, and wedding venue stalls which were good to look at but not really needed for me.

We had lots of fun having make up applied though, and buying the products at a reduced price and I also tried on about 10 dresses, 1 of which I loved! It was from the Benjamin Roberts 2012 collection, style 2263:

http://www.benjaminroberts.co.uk/2263-p-917.html

I loved the ruching around the waist and the detail to the side, it was really flattering and my BMs got butterflies when I had it on. I am now really excited to try on the Maggie dresses which I love. It was amazing too see how small my waist can look in some of the magical dresses with corset tops!!!

Emma,

You have done SO much planning I can hardly believe it. I feel far behind you guys and our wedding is two days before yours lol. We haven't even gotten our wedding consultant yet, still only have a wedding coordinator. I still have to figure out the room block situation and make save the dates. :rotfl2:

Your honeymoon sounds incredible, and relaxing. I would definitely go to the spa and get a nice massage b/c you will need it after all this planning. See ya later girlie, keep us posted.

Thanks Courtenay!!! Have you looked at any dresses yet or tried any on? We only have a wedding coordinator too, Pam Pearce and she has been very helpful.

We are lucky as my Dad is a printer so he sorted our save the dates. We also didn't do a room block as all of our guests have booked direct with Disney to take advantage of the free DDP offer we have in the UK at the moment, Pam said I can just sent the reservation numbers to my planner when I know who it is and that will cover the minimum number of nights, we have booked 18 ourselves though so almost covered it on our own!!!! Where are you going to stay? Have you chosen which resort you will have your complimentary room at?

I had my first dress appointments yesterday...and I now have my dress ordered!!!!

It was only the third one I tried on in the first shop but I knew it was perfect, my mum and sister were in tears and nothing was going to beat it!

It is Maggie Sottero Teracina, the first one I ever loved from the magazine and it was perfect on so we ordered it! I did try on another one after but we all knew nothing was going to beat it so I put it back on. I love the ruching around the waist and the pretty sparkly detail on the side (to draw the attention away from my belly!) It is nice and simple and not too big and I love it It has a pretty back with the detail on the bum after the lacing, and I can also hook the train up for the reception when my dancing feet are ready  We also ordered the veil which has crystals around the edge to match the dress, I think this will sparkle perfectly in the Florida sun!!! EXCITING! :yay:

And the best thing was it was a size 12 and it fit me!!! She told me not to loose too much more weight as I need my curves to compliment the style, but I still want to tone up a little bit more.

My sister took a few sneaky photos but they really do not do it justice, and I don't even look like I like it!!! I wish now we had asked her if we could take proper photos rather than doing it in secret but never mind, there will be lots on the day! And less chance of Scotty seeing them too. Lucky he doesn't come on here so I can share one with you :)

So now to find some shoes and I am ready to go!

UPDATE - Less than 1 year to go!!!

So this time next year I will be Mrs Vaughan!!! We have had a wedding planning filled couple fo weeks too...

SuitsOn Saturday Scott went out for the day with his Best Man and Usher trying on suits. They have found one they like, it is a navy blue suit with a slight shine to the material, and the current offer is a free shirt and tie with any suit you buy. The suit is £150 yet to hire the same one is £135 for 4 days...so for us it makes sense to buy it as he needs to hire it twice anyway and we would also have to pay more to hire for 2 weeks. He has chosen a white shirt and royal blue tie to go with it. I think this is it...

They are going to go back with my Dad this weekend as the shop has ordered in some jackets in their correct sizes to try on.

My Hair

I have been searching for hair styles over the last week, I want my hair curly and up and I think a central style will suit my veil best, These are my favourites so far:

Bridesmaid Dresses

I spent the day at Westfield Shopping Centre in London with my 8 bridesmaids and we had a trying on session of lots of dresses, and this one is our favourite so far:

Just having a few problems with the fit of some of them as I have lots of different shaped BMs!

DFTW Contract

We sent our signed Letter of Agreement and our deposit to Disney Fairytale Weddings last week and received confirmation it had all been received and processed.

Wedding Planner

We have just been told our Disney Wedding Planner is Carol Mikles, I have only read good things about her so looking forward to working with her over the next year :yay:

Thanks Courtenay!!! Have you looked at any dresses yet or tried any on? We only have a wedding coordinator too, Pam Pearce and she has been very helpful.

OK, so by now you know that I got my dress (you popped over to my PJ already :woohoo:). And your dress is so amazing. OMG, how beautiful. You look gorgeous in it. Isn't it so fun finding the dress? I am glad it's done though; one less decision to make.

I am sure your dad is happy that he is a printer, as well as you guys; my goodness that is going to save you a ton of money in which you can take to Disney to make a more magical wedding. Is he doing the invitations too? That would be great!

We are going to be staying at the Boardwalk Inn Resort (it is so nice, I had never been before until this last visit when we did our site visits). That will be where our complimentary room is too. We finally got the room block done and it was tricky. That's really it for now, and I think that's enough, it has been busy. I am excited to meet our WP; we signed our contract a few days ago so we should be hearing from him/her soon! I'll keep you updated. :dance3:
