Hello DIS'ers,

I first have to say that I have become obsessed with the boards I love it!!
Now my quandry.

I will be going with my family to WDW 8/20-29. I am very happy about the later evening hours, however it seems very complicated where you have to scan your room key and then wait in line for a long time and then get a bracelet? Could someone enlighten me as to what exactly has to be done?

Also how late do the parks stay open with the EMH late nights?

I appreciate any feedback. Thank you

Adrienne :earsgirl: :confused3

Hiya,

I was appalled at the crowds at evening EMH parks in late May and mid-June when we were there.

Your mileage may vary.

You might want to search around the board, there have been numerous threads on this topic lately.

It really depends on many things. Monday night 6-27 was not crowded at all. The only attraction with a wait was Space Mtn.

Weather was a factor also. It had rained hard earlier in the day, but had cleared up in time for Wishes and the second Spectro. 11p-2a was clear and not crowded.

We actually enjoyed evening EMH at MK.
We returned around 10:00 pm ,got through the thick crowds gathered to see Wishes & got our wrist bands. Here is a tip : They distribute wrist bands at several locations around MK, most people are not aware of this & long lines form at the front entrance to the park to get these bands. Do not get your bands there , just look for the large signs around the park & you can just walk right up. I believe I still have the locations written down, I'll try to find it & post back later.

Anyway, we had my DD 14 & her best friend also 14 on this trip. They are night owls for sure. So we let them sleep in & hang around the pool during the day. They were fresh & ready to go by 9:00pm. The evening EMH's are best suited for families with older kids. As the night goes on the strollers diappear. In the park guide they have a list of the attractions open during EMH, but we found almost every attraction in the park open. Even Jungle Cruise ( which isnt meant to be a night attraction, there are spotlights mounted on the boats). Well, we walked up to Jungle Cruise to find our skipper just sitting there waiting for us - our own private tour.( how often does this happen at WDW ?) Never ! Also we walked just about onto all rides except the 3 mts. which had 20 min waits, not bad.

The later you stay , the better it gets. We stayed till 2:00am both nights during the week & had a great time. Also, the CMs have much more time to interact with you than during a busy afternoon. At the HM the CMs were really cutting up, one CM was even laying on the ground playing dead as we entered the ride area, he would then scare the young girls & chase them around. At Big Thunder they made everyone shout out a big "YeeeHawww" before they'd let us start the ride. This to me is really worth staying up for....a much more magical & fun experience, not just being scooted through a line. If you have older kids in your group I think that you will enjoy the late night hrs. It really seems geared towards a young adult/ teen crowd during this time.

I remember a few years ago when I stayed at CBR they were called E-Nights; and there was an extra fee to get the extended evening hours admission to the parks (the extra hour in the morning was free). It was something like $20-25 per person.

Are the extra evening hours free to Disney resort guests? We will be staying at CBR and purchasing Park Hopper tickets. I just don't want to be slapped with another fee. But, now it sounds as if there is no extra fee for this privilege.

Any idea how late the hours would be in early November?

E ride nights were last available last year and the cost was $12 per person. They also limited the tickets , i believe 5 thousand, but wow was it great!!

The EMH hours are free for Disney resort guests. There used to be just morning early hours for resort guest and now there are both morning and night. For the night ones you need your resort card and then get a wrist band in the park. For the morning ones you just need your resort card to prove you belong

WE tried the extra evening hours at Epcot and it was horrible! We got our wrist bands in a matter of seconds but the crowds at Epcot for thew extra hours were insane we left about 11:00pm.

You don't have to scan your room card and stand in a long line for your wristband. The CM only checks to see if you have a Disney resort card key and then you are given your wristband. All the parks have several locations that distribute them starting 2 hours before the evening EMH. The locations near the park entrances will always have the longest lines. Just look over the EMH info for more isolated locations that will have little or no wait. At the Studios we got ours in the courtyard of Rock n Rollercoaster. It took about 30 seconds. However, the park was so jammed we only used FP (they reopen the machines for the EMH) for Tower of Terror and left because the wait times for everything was insane.

We just tried EMH at MK a few weeks ago, and it was a waste of time. Way too many people. Please bring back E-Nights. I would gladly pay for those tickets. We used to do the major rides over and over with little or no wait. I had always wished they would have E-Night for the other parks, but this new thing is not going to work for me.
