We have a short 4 day trip, so trying to make the most of it. I know slinky dog is hard to get for a fast pass. Right now, I had planned on AK on Day 4 of the trip (we leave day 5) and HS on Day 1. The other 2 days are set, I think, for what we have planned due to dinner reservations.

Would we do better to try for HS on Day 1 and hope to get Slinky Dog in the afternoon upon arrival or is it best to go during EMH on Day 4? Or, is it best to try for FOP for Day 4 (like I have planned now) instead of Day 1?
I planned on going to the Slinky Dog ride at park close if we do not get a fast pass.

I haven't been to Disney enough to give advice on that, but it might help other posters to know which days of the week Day 1 and 4 are and what time of year you're going.

Monday would be day 1 and Thursday day 4. It is the third week in July.

In general, both are difficult to get on Day 1.
We just did our FPs for May. I was able to get the FP I wanted for FoP on day 3 and 6 when I wanted. SDD on Day 2 was late afternoon.
In general, SDD at 60+3 seems to be easier.
SDD and FoP remain busy all day until close to park close.
RD works if you are there at least 60 minutes before opening. But the crowds are catching onto that as well.
