Hi DIS'ers. I just signed up for the Emerald Club and made new car ressies. Please give me your opiniions on whether or not this is a good deal, or I can do better. I booked a Full Size car from Sept 14-23. Intermediate car was only about $4 less, so I didn't want to risk that.) 1 week rental was $134.89 and 3 extra days were $67.44. So, the subtotal was $202.33. I got a Disney Connection discount for $15.42 and another discount for $40.47. (I used the Disney Club coupon id for one free weekend day when renting for 3 days (coupon is required for redemption), and the contract id for 10% off daily, weekly, and weekend leisure rates. Got this coupon in my Disney Club membership info.) After the various taxes and surcharges are added on, my total comes to $198.11. What do you guys think? Good deal, or should I keep checking? Thanks in advance.

Price a new reservation from National's website every 3 days or so, as the price may drop. If it does, make the new reservation and get an e-mail confirmation, then go back to the website and cancel the 'old' reservation.

Nine days for $200, is not bad, but I agree with ChuckS, keep checking, the rates will change! Make a new reservation if the rate goes down and cancel the old one:)

Thanks for the advice. We leave in 20 days, so I will check a few more times. I'm really looking forward to this Emerald Aisle thing. I'd be perfectly satisfied driving a regular full size car, but if there happens to be a PT Cruiser sitting there I think I'll just grin like an idiot. :D

It is a good rate, but as everyone has said, there can be better, keep checking. I happen to have 12 days for 207 all inclusive.

My friends just bought a PT Cruiser and let me drive it! It's beautiful.

Can you combine the two DC discounts for a weekly stay (M - Sun)?

Are these two seperate ressies? Do you have to take the car back and get another one if they are? I don't completely understand how you did this. Thanks!

TinkerbellRules....
You are able to use both a contract ID # and a coupon ID #. This is what I did. If you are a Disney Club member, they have both codes listed on the website. Just do a search for car rental. I have to take the actual paper coupon for part of the discount. Actually, I am not using it from the website, but from the initial packet of info I got with my DC card.

We are going in Nov and our base rate for a week is $124.99, with the two additional days at $20.42 each. With DC contract and entertainment coupon our 9 days came to $162 including taxes. So it is possible that the base rate and additional day rate for your trip could come down. Keep checking. The current ressie we have is the second one I made. Even if it doesn't it seems like a pretty could deal.

Sherry7-We have the 9 days before you, full size for 174.?? When I pro rate out your price there is only 3-4 dollars difference and you have 2 weekends compared to our 1 weekend. I thought we got a great rate. Just an FYI, our reservation said "counter" on it and even though we have Emerald Club, we have never used it. I thought that meant "bypass counter". So I called and they said because of the coupon and discounts used we would still have to go to the counter so they could verify. That's ok to save 50 something bucks. Then I guess we proceed to EA. Wow, pt cruiser, perhaps marroon, red, or silver. You guys are teasing me. That would be SOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun!

We seem to pack enough for two famuilies when we vacation. We typically have a 30", a 28", and a couple of roll-on 20-inchers,as well as a camera bag. Will a PT Cruiser take all that punishment?

The last couple of times we rented EA, there weren't any PTs available and we ended up in nice size SUV's. But I know, the wife is attracted to 'em and we might stumble across one, so does anybody have any opinions. (I know this is off topic, but three replies talked about them, I figured this was the place to ask:bounce: .)

Our friends just purchased a PT Cruiser and there isn't much room in it. I teased her they could never take it on a long trip because her Chrysler T&C was packed full on last vacation. Course, we took more stuff due to going to the beach (beach chair, etc). The Cruiser really doesn't have a lot of room. How many are in your family? One of the back seats fold down to allow for longer stuff. I would think a few suit cases would fit. Hey, isn't that a great excuse to go test drive one?? ;)

Hi Tink -

I thought as much. We have four in our family but 1 1/2 bags each. Unless that fold down in the back is the third bench, I don't think it will work out for us.

Thanks for the info, Steve:)

I just returned on Aug 20. I reserved a full size family car (for me and my younger sister) from Aug13 to Aug 20 for $168. We actually got a sporty Mitzubishe Eclipse . We loved it.
I had a coupon for a free day, and Disney Club card.

good luck!!!!!

The Cruisers fold down seat in the second one. It only fits about 5 people (my DD, DH and I were all in the back of one). There really isn't a lot of room in the back. The car is basically a Neon grown up ;)
