Hi Lyn
Emerald isle is just off the 192 west of Disney. It's a new complex and you should have a lovely time. Disney is about 5 miles and very close to Publix and Winn Dixie supermarkets on Splendid China Plaza. I know that area very well as I'm on Lindfields. I absolutely love that area-it's so central for everywhere and not overly crowded.

I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Have a great time.

hi alison thanks for the reply.
i'm glad we picked a winner with this resort.
i stayed at lindfields on my very first visit way back in '93 and the villa was fantastic.
are you planning on going back to florida in the near future??
i can't wait to get there even though i shouldn't wish my time away.
if only i could afford to buy a place of our own there, now wouldn't that be great!!!!!!!

Hi Lin
We are back in May, October and maybe even sneak a week in November or December if I'm lucky.

I just love it-as everyone here does too and all of those Escape to the Sun programmes make me feel so homesick.

Don't ask me how we ended up with a home over there as it was never on my wish list! After staying in a villa on Lindfields 4 years ago my daughter siad 'we should get one too'-I said ' No' and a year later somehow I found myself with one.

It's been a rollercoaster 3 years of happy, sad and stressful times. When things went wrong and we had guests come in- like when 3 little girls threw my potted plants in the pool and the pool got dirty with the soil, wondering if there was going to be enough money to pay the bills, learning to do taxes, deal with the utility companies when bills got lost in the post and we are threatened to get cut off, finally finding a management company that I admire and trust after being with some right stinkers-but the joys of guests telling me about how wonderful their holiday had been-the pleasure I get from buying beautiful things to make it lovely for everyone and the friendships that I have formed with guests far, far overshadows the bad.

It is very, very hard work. There is so much competiton out there and if I had known what I know now 3 years on-I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have done it-the fear would have put me off.

If you ever want to give it a try-just get in touch with me. I will always help anyone to realise their dream-and I'll try not to be too negative-LOL!!!!!!

hi alison
i'm really pleased that you are very happy with your villa.
oh how i wish we could get one too but i don't think i would rent it out as i would be there all the time!!!
it left me really open mouthed about you having potted plants dumped in your pool, that must have been gutting!
our villa is going to be big this year as there are 12 of us but there is usually just the 4 of us. me dh and our 2 boys 6and7yrs
how big is your villa? i think i said before that i have stayed at lindfields before and i loved it. it is so close to everything.
in the villa we have in emerald island, we have looked at the virtual tour and noticed loads of lovely plants trailing down to the floor, we just looked at eachother and said"we'll have to get them out of reach of tiny hands!!" my great nephew will be 15 months old when we go

Hi Lin
It's just a 4 bed. The scalliwags who chucked the pots weren't my guests thankfully. I think they were renting on a long let in the neighbourhood.

I think that they have moved as there is no bother now after the police got involved. Basically they were allowed to run riot and they used to swim in the pools as they didn't have one of their own. Very worrying as the little one was only 4!

I wouldn't have minded if they DID only swim -LOL! But very worrying indeed.

You must let me know what it's like to go away in such a large party. We were a 9 in October for my daughter's wedding and that was large enough.

Not everyone wanting to do the same thing etc! Although not everyone's family is as disorganised as mine

Alison

hello again
well to get everyone organised to take this trip has been quite a job:confused:
we are all pretty much laid back and none of us are worried about speaking up if we want to /don't want to do what the rest are doing.
i think that if you are going away in a large group like we are then you have to be honest with eachother or else you will drive eachother nuts!!
me and my dh took our parents with us one year, NEVER AGAIN!!!
my mum wasn't too bad except she had this fear of us leaving her on her own somewhere! bless her i shouldn't moan really,i haven't got her anymore as she passed away at christmas.
my mil and fil were the biggest pain in the you know what EVER:mad:
my mil dressed like she was in the desert and kept asking fil if she could have an ice-cream- i think he puts her on rations!!
and as for my fil, well what can i say-have you ever heard of anyone going to disney and complaining about the amount of kids that were there.   ?
my mum was hell bent on spending every penny she had saved but the in-laws were more concerned about how much they could bring home to put back in the bank.
now don't get me wrong, i am really easy going and my dh is so laid back he's horizontal but we ended up sneaking out in the middle of the night to go to walmart just so we could have a conversation without in laws listening at the wall in our motel room.apparantly the walls were so thin that they heard everything we said which must have upset them as we said some pretty nasty things at times!!
anyway it all came to a head on the last day when fil(from hell) moaned at some special needs kids in MGM.( i think they were having fun and he just couldn't have that now could he?) anyway me and dh both really tore strips off him both at the same time.
let's just say that he was very very quiet for the duration of our flight home.
the funniest thing is though is that he says it is the best holiday they ever had and would we take them again.
my dh just said bluntly NO- GO ON YOUR OWN NEXT TIME!!
i am sure that it will be fine this trip as all the relations are from my side and so much more fun loving and our ages range from 46 yrs to 15 months.
it will be really handy for going on the rides as my dh is a real wimp and cannot stand heights the most. so me and the boys will be able to do much more with the others.dh is just happy people watching so we have a ready made baby sitter for the baby.
my bil is a bit limp on most rides too so they can keep eachother company!!
best wishes
LIN XXXX
