Emerald Island Resort-places to eat/shop?

I have read somewhere that it is possible to walk to the restaurants and shops from E I Resort .
Is this true and if so, does anyone know what shops and places to eat there are?.
How much walking are we talking about?
It's the first time we are going to stay in this area and aren't very familiar with it.
Any information would be really handy.

Lin,

You <i>could</i> walk from EI to Formosa Gardens Shopping Center, but I'm not sure I'd want to do it too often. Depending on whereabouts your villa is on EI, you could have a fairly long trek just to get to its entrance on Funie Steed Road. You'd then have a walk of several hundred yards to the crossroads with Formosa Gardens Blvd, and then it's a further mile or so. Formosa Gardens Blvd does have sidewalks and street lighting.

Some of the shops and restaurants:

Goodings or Winn Dixie (it's been both at some point, but I can't remember which it is now);
World of Denim;
Several smaller outlets including the obligatory electronics and luggage stores;

TGI Friday's;
Outback Steakhouse; (this is the closest to EI as it's just about the first unit you'll come across);
Giordano's;
A Taste of China;
Dairy Queen;
Taco Bell;
Subway.

There's also a new Red Lobster on the opposite side of FGB at the junction with the 192, and a Carrabba's at the far end of FGSC, but I would say that's too far to walk.

Once you've done the drive, you'll have a better idea of whether or not you're prepared to walk it!

I had my doubts about this when i read it so here's one person that will be hopping in the car.!!!!
I'm glad we are only minutes from somewhere to stop off on the way back " home" to grab something to eat.
BTY we are staying at Secret Key Cove. Don't you just love the sound of that?:
