We stayed in "Mickey's Emerald Castle", at Emerald Island Resort 12/27/08-1/1/09, and had a great stay! The resort itself is very pretty, and kept up. I walked through the resort several mornings (it is very large). There is a short nature path that goes through a wooded area.

The clubhouse pool was on the small side, but very warm;like bathwater! We never had trouble finding a lounge chair, and the pool was definitely never crowded. We used the tennis facilities one day, which was fun. The tennis courts were quite a hike from the clubhouse, so we drove there (2 minutes).

The location of the resort was ideal. Very close to shopping, restaurants, and the theme parks. We drove to SeaWorld on 12/29, and it took us about 15-20 minutes. On 12/31 we drove to Epcot, which took 10-15 minutes. There was quite a bit of traffic on the main roads (being Christmas week), so that added some extra time.

We were very pleased with "Mickey's Emerald Castle", and would definitely recommend it. It is a 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, with full kitchen, washer, and dryer. It was decorated very nicely (lots of Disney pictures), and was very clean. There was a pack-n-play set up in one of the bedrooms, which we did not need, but I though was a nice touch for families with younger kids. We were a 2 minute walk to the clubhouse and pool. Parking was right outside our front door. It was great to have so much space to relax in! Overall, a very pleasant experience!:)

Hi Koda - thanks for that review. I've been looking at offsite villas - it will be my first time renting one and Emerald Island was one of the areas I was considering. I'll check out the villa.

In 2003, I stayed in the same "townhouse" style residence with 4 bedrooms at Emerald Island. It was very close to Disney, and the community is beautiful.

I have looked also into renting the larger, 7 bedroom homes with private pools there and they are very reasonable. We had a great stay!

Unfortunately, we are now spoiled by staying on Disney property and likely won't stay offsite again.
