When you rent a vehicle thru National and you are using the Emerald aisle. What are the chances that there will be a higher grade vehicle to choose from when you check in.

At Orlando not only will they allow you to use the Emerald Aisle, but you can actually select anything in the place from any row. However, if you select from the Premium or Luxury aisles they will charge $5 or $10 additional per day.

If you want/need a certain size or type you just reserve that kind. We have always gotten nice cars at the EA. we saw SUV's last time but not luxury on EA.

They have redone the rules for the Emerald Club. You might want to check National's site for the new rules.
there is a thread on the transportation board that addresses what people have found on the EA.

We used ea in mco in April. There were only intermediate cars. While we were loading the car a Blazer was put in the EA. I asked if we could take it and we were told yes, but to keep in mind that it was not supposed to be there. We are renting again in Aug and I'm not planning on anything more than the intermediates to be in EA. The rules changed mid April.

National did in fact change the Emerald Aisle recently.

EA should only have intermediate in it. Sometimes, there are larger classes (I recently got a Suzuki XL7), but it's not guarenteed. If you want a specific class, EA members can do Emerald Select and you will be able to take the class you want from a different location (that's the way it's been explained to me). I believe at MCO, it's the next aisle over to the left, but I'm not positive.

Sometimes, you get lucky and there are larger cars in the Aisle, but it's a rare thing now. They want to make sure you pay a little more for the larger cars. When it's just my family, the Aisle is fine. Our next trip is 7 of us, so I have done the Emerald Select to make sure we get a mini-van.

Hope it helps...
