Hello, all! We have a split stay onsite at the Disneyland resort on Labor Day weekend. But for a 1/3 of the price on Saturday, we could stay at the Embassy Suites.

What has everyone's experience been with that hotel?

I love the idea of cooked to order breakfast, cocktails & appetizers, & the seriously large 2 room corner suite with balcony. Assume it won't be as insanely crowded as onsite cuz of the holiday and 1/2 marathon weekend. It has indoor and outdoor pools but they don't compare to the Grand Californian (my Saturday reservation). :beach:

I'd appreciate any comments and advice! Thanks in advance! :thanks:

OK, the former Hilton Suites is an older Hotel and there really isn't much around it. I stayed there years ago when it was Hilton Suites, so can't address the current inside offerings, except I know it recently underwent a major remodel as part of the name change.

But the Half Marathon course on Sunday morning does run through Angel Stadium and Gene Autry Way, very close to the Embassy Suites Anaheim-Orange (There are two Embassy suites in the area, the other is on Harbor Blvd in Garden Grove). So there will be traffic issues starting late Saturday night.

So those are things you should be aware of.

One thing you can do, head to the Outlets of Orange Shoppertainment Mall south of the Embassy to have a fun time and a good meal.

I did NOT realize where the course runs thru. We were considering going to Anaheim Packing District for lunch on Saturday. Wondering if the marathon goes around there that time. Heard parking can b crazy there so thinking about valet. I'm pretty sure that's north of the hotel. Maybe will have to go to Outlets at Orange cuz it should be further away from the traffic like u said.

There is a shorter 10K run Saturday morning that is mainly on Disneyland Property and the surrounding streets.

The main Half-Marathon is Sunday Morning and goes through Angel Stadium.

Seems like a lot of course works starts late Saturday night, say starting around 10 PM in setting up the road closures.

Access to the Packing District should not be an issue lunch time on Saturday, though the place might be busier than normal, as marathons do need to stock up on calories before the event.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your replies! I'm glad I posted this thread because there are other factors I hadn't considered before.

If you don't mind, I have a couple questions for advice.

1) if we stay at Embassy Suites, how will it be trying to leave Sunday morning around 8:30? We have reservations at DLH.

2)we may just bite the bullet and stay onsite at GCH on Saturday then on checkout on Sunday we can drive over to DLH. I'm again worried about the street traffic and closures on Disneyland way and magic way.

How do we drive around to and from the hotels?

YIKES, Sunday morning will be tough, getting near the Disneyland Hotel will be easy, head south from the Embassy Suites to Chapman Avenue, and then take that to West (Also known as Disneyland Drive north of Katella), make a left on Katella and then a right onto Walnut, then a right on Magic Way. The question is how will parking be in the area, as the finish line of the Half-Marathon is on the internal road between the Paradise Pier Hotel and the Disneyland Hotel (think next to the ESPN Zone, and then the area north, which is mainly Downtown Disney and DLH ground parking for shuttles, etc. So you can get close, and 8:30 is about when most of the folks will start to cross that finish line. So even walking from the Grand Californian to the Disneyland Hotel can be somewhat a major pain due to the course.

So you will run into issues either way. My first suggestion, arrange it so you don't have the 8:30 reservation and rescheduling. If that is not possible, it is almost a flip of the coin over the two options you mentioned.

Good luck planning.

Does anyone have any experience with this hotel since their renovations? I'm curious about the room experience, the breakfast, cocktails and appetizers and how the indoor and outdoor pools were.

TIA! :flower3:

OK, here is a marked map showing the route (based on prior years) that will get you to the DLH from Embassy Suites on Sunday morning avoiding the Marathon route, (Note, I did not use Disneyland Drive, and made the detour to the back side and Walnut, since Disneyland Drive will be closed.) Of course, things can change as compared to prior years.

There will be Anaheim Police directing traffic and good signage. But when you get to Magic Way, it might be closed due to the race, and instead, send you to the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure and expect you to walk.

In prior years, they actually ran shuttles from the Grand Californian on a strange and long route to avoid the race course to get to the DLH for pedestrians.

Also note, for others reading this thread, they will close down Harbor Blvd at Disney Way for a few hours. This will require rerouting of the shuttles and public buses on Sunday morning.

Here is last years list of road closures.
