Hi All, the last time we cruised on the Fantasy back in 2015 you were able to choose to rather eat lunch at Cabanas or at the Tiana themed sit down dining room (can’t remember the name) restaurant with table service. Is that still a thing? If so, which dining room does this on the Dream? Thanks it’s been a minute since we last cruised and we just booked our Aug cruise last week. The last time I had a year to plan😌

Emarkation sit down lunch is the same menu each cruise and from my understanding can change locations.

Cant say if one resturant is more likely than another. Think last Dream cruise to sail had lunch out of animators but could be wrong.

If you are concierge, the welcome aboard lunch is usually in the Royal Palace. The menu is pretty much what ever you want and you meet part of the onboard concierge team and they go over your plans and fill in any gaps.

Bumping this up... I have been trying to find out if they had the sit down option available for the UK sailings, but haven’t had any luck in seeing anything specific. We always do the sit down lunch when we board. We may have to wait until the 8/9 cruise to see what’s available.

DW and I went on a 3 night Bahamian Cruise on the Dream 01/2020 and ate lunch with our travel companions in Animator's Palette. We had to wheel our carry-on's with us, but seemed like there weren't a ton of people there. It was nice to sit down and have lunch brought to us before our room was ready. What changes will be made going forward, I haven't heard, but that's what we did.

Thank you everyone. I liked it because not many people do it and you don’t have to scoot around other peoples luggage.

You probably meant the "princess themed" MDR on the Fantasy (Royal Court) and Dream (Royal Palace) as there is no Tiana specific themed MDR on the big ships. There is a Tiana themed MDR on the Wonder called Tiana's place.

I am also very anxious to learn if one of the MDR's will be used for embarkation lunch when cruising returns on the Dream. The last time I cruised on the Dream or Fantasy embarkation lunch was served in the Enchanted Garden MDR.

On most of our previous cruises [Dream. Fantasy] embarkation lunch in the MDR was in Enchanted Garden. Our last cruise, B2B2B on the Dream in December 2019, it was in Animator's. We prefer lunch in the MDR over Cabana's as we are dealing with multiple food allergies, but also we find it more relaxing [though on our B2B2B it was pretty busy the first leg... we timed it better for the next two legs and managed to sneak in in a window when it wasn't as busy].

I really do hope they keep an MDR embarkation lunch.

Choosing to eat the embarkation lunch in one of the MDRs is usually a lot less chaotic and much more quieter vs Cabanas. I definitely recommend it and for social distancing they may even have multiple restaurants open but all serving the same menu. I didn't notice anything in the latest UK vlogs but perhaps I missed it.

I just double checked. The only video I have found so far is from the first Liverpool cruise on 15 July, a concierge Gold Cast Away Club family had embarkation day lunch at Rapunzel's Royal Table on The Magic.

I guess as the majority of UK Vloggers are first time cruisers they probably don't know about the MDR being open for lunch on embarkation day. Also everyone seems to go up to the higher decks when they get on the ship and Rapunzel's Royal Table is on deck 3, so most first time cruisers would just follow the crowds to Cabanas on deck 9.

Where is it noted which MDR lunch is served on embarkation day?

I don't think it is. On The Magic, embarkation day lunch used to be in Lumiere's, but now they are doing the Welcome onboard show in front of Lumiere's and moving people out of the Atrium as soon as possible. So I guess the Concierge family on the Liverpool cruise must have asked a CM onboard, as they are Gold Castaway Club members and would have known about embarkation day lunch in the MDR from previous cruises.

Should be on your navigator and the crew likely will know if asked. Might even be announced in the terminal and such as well. It might even be on your app once onboard as well.

If you scroll all the way to the last page you will see on this cruise it was in Enchanted Garden.

I just randomly found this but it shows all the pages of the first day of the cruise.

Anything pre covid is now out of date and invalid information.

The UK Magic cruises need to be used a guide for the Dream August cruises. It is very likely that DCL will do the same Welcome on Board Atrium show on the Dream and move people out of the Dream Atrium as soon as possible,

Therefore if embarkation lunch was previously in Royal Palace MDR, then it is very likely it will be switched to one of the other MDR. It may not be announced in the terminal as there will be new boarding procedures, and no check in at the terminal, just Covid testing and security. The best thing to do is to ask a CM when you get on board or check the Ap when you get onboard, as staff in the terminal may not know specific details like that.

Basically it will be a whole new cruise experience and just like when the parks reopened, previous cruisers are going to have to learn a whole new cruise experience, as what they did before Covid is now changed.

100% I had outlined previously that is the case that it can change.

My point was simply that when you get to the port it should be listed on the welcome navigator or elsewhere. It shouldn't be too hard to find for someone looking to grab that lunch as opposed to Cabanas.

So unless they are not giving any navigators out that should remain in place then. In that case backup would be simply asking someone during boarding.

They are not giving out paper navigations on embarkation day at port on the UK cruises. Everything is now in the Ap. This is what I mean about before Covid information now being invalid. People need to watch the UK Vlogs from The Magic..

At the port there is no checkin, just Covid testing and security and people are being moved very quickly from the terminal on the ship.

Thing is people in the UK Vlogs are not stating they don't get the paper Navigators from the ones I have watched.

When I say ask you can ask those in the atrium placing you in your location or ask a crew member as you leave the atrium or stop by the guest services desk quickly.

No one is showing a comprehensive view of the app in the videos either (if you saw one post it) so not 100% sure if it will show operating hours for all those locations. I have watched a bunch of the vlogs that I could find on YouTube and the most I saw of the app was simply the new checkin where you use the phone to scan your muster station.

Also I have heard on those vlogs both that the menu is only via the app but then saw another one where they could request a paper menu for restaurants.

Can you point me to this video? I'd really like to see one from the pov of someone who has been on board before.
