What is the best email or program for sending large amounts of pictures. My email says the files are to big. I have about 100 pictures I need to email and I would like to do it easily. I have adobe lightroom is there away to email using that?

I use VSO image resizer (it is a free download) google it.

You just select the files you want to resize, right click and select the size you want them, press go and its done!

Other option it to upload them somewhere then let your reciepient right click and save them.

The thing about e-mailing 100 photos is that (1) your e-mail program won't like sending SUPER-HUGE files, and (2) your recipient's e-mail server won't like receiving super-huge files. I don't know how much your e-mail storage space your recipient has, but you may run the risk of completely filling all their storage space and they won't be able to receive other people's e-mails until they delete yours!

Can you upload your 100 photos into a Flickr account (or whatever online photo service you use)? Then, e-mail your recipient and give them the link to that photo set (or folder). From there, your recipient can then right-click-save any or all 100 photos.

Hope that helps.

it can actually be done with hotmail, they have a new feature.

you actually upload the pics to skydrive, a free photo storage area from microsoft, then friends and family can view the photos, view a slide show or download the photos..

I personally would prefer more control, such as a paid photo hosting site, such a zenfolio, fotki, smugmug, flickr..etc

If you HAVE to email them try the VSO image resiazer as was already suggested. If you are running Windows, put all the resized files into one folder (or a couple if it's still pretty big.) Right click on the folder(s) and select "Send To" then choose "compressed folder." Now instead of sending 100 separate files, you only need to send one or a couple.

*right click on the folder(s) to see how large they are in Mb and compare that with the largest files your Email will let you send. I THINK hotmail is up to 10Mb. If the compressed folder is too big, put 1/2 of the pictures into a 2nd folder and compress it again.

If you want to keep the original resolution, I'd burn a Cd and mail it out.....but that's just me :rolleyes1

For email, I always resize to 800x533 for landscape orientation and 480x600 for portrait and do it in Photoshop or Lightroom where I can control the quality as well. I try to reduce quality down to 70% or so so I end up with no more than 200k per file. I do this for my web images as well. There is nothing I hate more than my wife's friends sending her email with photos and they are full resolution and takes forever to download the email.

800 pixels on the long side and 200k file size is more than good enough quality for viewing on a computer screen. The pixel size can be adjusted larger of course if you know the resolution of the recipient. I don't email pictures to many people who have supercomputers though and most are still at 1024x768 or 1152x864 resolution.

Nothing gets me worst than people posting huge photos for the web because they have some supercomputer with ridiculous resolutions expecting most people to have the same. Most people are using lower resolutions because many folks also visit the forums and look at photos on computers they don't have control over (read as looking at them at work...)

There are a handfull on online site that will allow you to send large files that exceed email limits. In you case you could zip up a folder of images and then use one of the many sites.

I've used the free/lite version of http://www.dropsend.com/ in the past, but you can just do a Google search for "Send large Files free" and research the various sites.

I am not endorsing dropsend as I've just used the free version a couple of times over the last year to send images/video of real estate for my inlaws.

The best way to email that many photos is just don't. Upload the pictures to Flikr, Picasa, Photobucket, SmugMug, etc. They all have privacy settings to keep out the people you don't want to see your pictures. Then email the person the link to your pictures.

If you're having this much trouble sending the photos, imagine the trouble trying to receive them.

My mother is older and despite having used a computer for almost 7 years, it's still "newfangled" in her mind. She just doesn't get it. She would much prefer to get attachments rather than a hotlink to another site she has to mess with.

You might be in the same boat. It sounds like someone wants attachments to handle better on the other end or maybe just because they are used to it. If that is the case and someone is wanting to print them out anyway, you could load your pictures to walmart or target and have them printed at any walmart or target in the country and then your recipient can just go and pick up the prints. It has saved a lot of on the phone frustration between my mother and me.
