DD6 wants an elf to come to our house. I guess the kids at her school have this thing going where they leave out milk and crackers at night and in the morning an elf is left behind. Its a stuffed animal/plush doll that appears. Then Santa takes the elf home on Christmas Eve. DD wants to leave out the crackers tonight and I have no idea where to get an elf. Does anyone know about this?

oh wow, im stumped, i have never heard about this, can you delay the cookies until you can find one?/ Maybe try ebay?...gosh im going to see where i can help you find a stuffed elf....thats a hard one...

ok after searching on ebay (after no luck with google) apparently thre is a plush elf that CVS sells from island of the misfit toys, try ebay, you may get one there in time to do the whole thing...

Thanks for looking. DD did leave out the crackers and an elf left her a note and said thanks for the snack but he was too busy to stay tonight and that he would be back. My sister tracked them down at a local mall so I'll be headed over there today.

I heard about this elf from a friend recently, she said it shows up after Thanksgiving and "moves" from room to room to watch the kids to be sure they are behaving for Santa. She said it creates mischief (sets up board games, turns movies upside down, unrolls the toliet paper..silly stuff like that) and magically disappears on Christmas Day. I think it sounds like fun!!

That sounds fun! What a cute and clever way to keep kids guessing. I only wish DD was young enough to "fall" for it.

It's called Elf on a Shelf - google it, and you can buy the package (book and elf). It's fun!

Cool!! I have *never* heard of this but I think it's such a cute idea! I think I may just have to start that next year. I think after Thanksgiving is a perfect time for it.

We do something a little different. "Elfie" comes with Santa to help out on Christmas Eve. He always gets in to mischief that the boys discover Christmas morning. One year he had to use our "facilities" and forgot to flush and left green tinkle in the potty and toilet paper trailing from the bathroom back up the chimney. The boys always wonder what Elfie is going to to!

I had posted about this a while back, looking for the story that goes along with the elf. I purchased my elf from one of those home parties, can't recall the name right now. I was looking for a story to go along with my elf. I basically ended up printing up a letter in mirror image so that it was backwards and could only be read in the mirror, and "sending" the Elf via UPS straight from the North Pole. He also came with the Happy Elf movie.

The kids were instructed to make the elf a bed and that they could only touch him when it was time to put him to bed. The Elf has been up to mischief ever since he came on Dec 1.

So far he has:
Toilet papered the house (hallway) and was left hanging with TP around him
Tinseled the trees
Left a fruit loop trail from the Kitchen to the Living room where he was hiding behind a chair.
Left a Christmas Coloring book
Played a game of Snap Dragon with a stuffed Moose.
Left a Christmas Puzzle
Built Santa and a Christmas tree out of Knex
Decorated the trees with underwear (clean of course)
Took the Suburban for a joy ride and cranked up the music loud, wipers going, fans on high.
Last night he wrote on the bathroom mirror with Lipstick telling them 14 days until Christmas and too remember to Be Good

I have a few other things on my list to do, but I don't have enough to last until Christmas so I need more ideas, but the kids have had fun looking see where the elf is every morning.
