elevators at OKW

Do all the buildings at OKW have elevators in them? I am having a hysterectomy in June and won't be able to climb stairs when we leave 2 1/2 weeks afterward. Since I asked for second floor specifically in buildings 16, 62 and 23, I am wondering if I need to reconsider where I am staying.

Also, does anyone have an address for making a complaint? I stayed at Caribbean Beach for 4 nights in April, and, due to a flight delay, I arrived at midnight. The CM on duty couldn't make keys for us, and they had a wheelchair locked up for me that she couldn't access until 7:30 the next day!! There was no manager on duty either, and the next day DH had to walk over to get the keys and wheelchair, they wouldn't even deliver them! We actually went over to BW and borrowed a wheelchair from them so that I could get to my room at Caribbean! CB's customer service certainly isn't what it used to be, but BW's sure was great to us--they told us to keep the wheelchair till we checked out of BW the following week! Crying might have helped

A few of the newer buildings have elevators. I am pretty sure building 63 & 64 have them - but check member services to be sure and make a "medical request" for a building with an elevator.
Most of the buildings I have stayed in do not have elevators.

Since only 2 or 3 bldgs at OKW have elevators, I would also be prepared to accept a ground floor unit, since you'll be making a "medical request". Just in case the elevator units happen to be occupied when you arrive.

Bldgs 62, 63 & 64 have elevators Cruella. Make certain you state that you require these bldgs for medical reasons when you call MS.
Sorry to hear about your experience at CB---that doesn't seem right of them.

Thanks, Bob and Chuck, for the responses. My DH insisted that all buildings at OKW had elevators, he really loves OKW! I have no desire to sleep out on the lawn, however Does OKW always honor medical requests first, or should I consider switching to one of the resorts with elevator access to all their rooms?

Thanks, too, Maria, for the address and well-wishes. DH actually suggested cancelling the trip when he heard that hysterectomy with incision can take up to 8 weeks for recovery, but I really feel that it's important to keep our priorities straight Believe it or not, this is the result of a trip to the emergency room the day before our last trip(which is where the wheelchair fits in)!

We requested "ground floor" or "elevators" twice in the past several years at OKW for my mil. We were granted "ground floor" on both occassions. I can't say for sure whether the elevator bldgs are 100% guarenteed but it seems like most people seem to get them if they have a medical request from what I've read on these boards over the years. Perhaps state it as elevator or ground floor on your request ? Good luck ! OKW is a great resort !

I don't think they can guarantee an elevator building, there are only 3 and they could be totally occupied the day you arrive. You would be more likely to get a first floor in any building.

If you request 1st floor or a room in building with elevator for Medical Reasons, it won't be guaranteed. But, in staying at OKW as members since 1992, we've not had any problems getting it.
We've been told by MS, that as long as your request is in the computer as a medical request, those are filled first before any general requests. Now, if it just said "Building 62" for Medical Reasons, your chances are lower for getting that. As long as your request includes first floor in other buildings too, you should not have a problem.

I have been told many times by OKW management CMs that requests for medical reasons are a priority & are filled first. I have needed to request first floor or elevator for medical reasons for about four years now & have never had a problem. And yes buildings 62, 63 & 64 are the elevator buildings. Enjoy your stay at OKW!

We always put "ground floor medical reasons" and have always gotten it. We've never mesed with the "elevator buildings" as they are so popular. We always have our car ang actually like being "out in the boondocks." If you want to, you can add "close parking" as I have been warned that in some buildings, the HC parking (Mom has a tag) isn't too close. We've always been happy with our assignment.

I wish you well with the surgery. Mom had similar a few years back -- very little post-op discomfort plus 6 weeks off from work made her VERY happy. Mickey is the best medicine -- enjoy!

On our last visit in Feb. When we checked in and got a third floor-beautiful room I was wondering where the elevator was located. Not in that building--I discovered. Well, after everyone started carrying things up the steps and we got to the top floor I called the front desk and requested a room change. My mom was joining us the next day and could no way get up and down stairs!

I never thought of the fact that there were not any elevators in most bldgs. at OKW! I will always remember that now and keep it in mind when making a ressie if I need one-which we do not always.

RE: the family carrying everything up the 3 flights, well there are five of us and we each took a bag or 2 up, and then down again!

I can understand this is not fun for most but for the future, you can have Bell Hop service do this.
