Electric Carts at DL

We are thinking of renting an electric cart for my Mom at DL. I'm assuming you would rent them where the strollers are. Does anyone know how much they are and if they run out of them at some point during the day? Also, we are going April 22-24 (a weekend). Will the park be too crowded to manuever the cart? :confused3

TIA for all replies! :wave2:

This may not be very helpful, but I read somewhere (possibly a guidebook) that it's more cost effective to rent one offsite. That way you are guaranteed one (there are only so many available at the park), and also you have it available to you outside of the park. Not sure where to rent one in the area, however...

We have rented one numerous times for my father in law who is disabled. We have always been able to rent him one, no problem and he usually doesn't arrive to the park until later in the day and they have always had plenty. Maybe we have just been lucky. I think the cost is now up to around $34. You pay for the whole thing up front, plus a $20 deposit that is refunded at the end of the day when you turn it in. We have always been able to take it over to California Adventure as well. It can get tricky in the crowded walkways manuevering one around, but my fil has always managed fine. We were there over a very crowded weekend (Lincoln's birthday) in February and he still did fine. They have a little horn like thing in case you need to alert somebody they are about to run into you. The biggest problem is making sharp turns but he has gotten so used to it by now he is a pro! Some of the rides will have the scooter go in through the exit, some rides they can go through much or all of the que. Having a scooter can make things more challenging but can be a real lifesaver for the elderly in particular! I would arrive early to be safe so that you know you can get one for sure. But as I said, we have never had a problem, they usually seem to have plenty to spare. And yes, they are rented just as you enter the turnstiles by the stroller rental. They also have wheelchairs there as well.

My mother also needed one of these on a trip and we did get there too late one day, as they had run out. They suggest you come early so you don't miss out. The more crowded the Park, the more trouble, yet still better than having to walk if you are in need of assistance.

Thanks everyone! I'm not sure if my Mom will go for it, but she has a hard time walking for a long period of time so I think this is right up her alley! :teeth:

My father in law was hesitant at first but he has heart problems and diabetes and it was the difference between having no fun and having a very pleasant time! One thing about it, Disneyland has so many nice places to sit and rest and that is really helpful if you opt out of the scooter. My mother for instance is also in very poor health but walked Disneyland just fine without the scooter and lots of rest breaks! Have a wonderful time with your mom, Disneyland is so much more fun when you go with the ones you love.
