El Guitar (updated with new vid by DarkwingDuck)

Ok, Im like EXTREME beginner guitar player... (I played acoustic for not very long, and switched to electric) and I just learned how to read tabs lol, but im confused on what some of the symbols mean, like when there is an h in the middle of to numbers, (4h5) what does that mean? or like how do you know when to play chords? is there a way to read notes?? Yeah im extremely confused?? :confused3

Just kidding! I found out that the h means hammer on... duhh :lmao:

i am getting a new guitar for my bday next wednesday, should i get acoustic or electric?

Im more of an acoustic guy...but you should really think of what you enjoy playing most and if you already have a good electric or good acoustic then get the opposite.

yeah, i have an electric but it's not good. but it still plays so i am not sure. hm

What music do you like to listen to better? Thats how I would base my opinion. I like more rock music, so that the type of music i would want to play :)

Yeah it depends on your own musical interests...and how you like to play. I've found I much prefer playing electric guitar to Acoustic, though I mainly play classical songs.

So I made a deal with my dad...if I take the garbage out and mow the lawn without him complaining for 2-3 months that he will buy me recording gear...its not expensive at all it is listed on Musicians Friend for $299 it is the Behringer one. Its got me extremely pumped

now that it's summer, my band has a lot more time to practice and we just learned 2 new Offspring songs, "You're gonna go far, kid" and "Want You Bad" and Prayer of the Refugee by Rise Against

i just picked up my guitar a few days ago for the first time in months. i'm currently trying to learn "love song' by amiel but im having trouble with strumming. also, im discovering that its really hard to sing properly and play at the same time.

ok I'm bringing this back because this weekend I'm working at a town festival, and today I was a roadie for Dennis DeYoung, who was the lead singer of the band Styx

its hard trying to pick it back up. when I first started trying to teach myself I was awful. strumming was my weakest point too. if you are really serious, take lessons. I've been taking lessons for three years and that'd made all the difference. maybe try a different song. I don't know what band you like but our song by taylor swift is simple. I'm not a huge fan but its any easy song. and singing and playing is complex. what i did was i sat in front of a mirror and did and air guitar type thing moving my hands like I would if I was really playing and singing. then I would learn the song till I could play it without looking at my hands or music. then combine them. its hard to do it when your still learning to play.

I have this as a backup. it is an excellent beginner. very good sound quality. I adore mine. acoustic is, I think, alot prettier than electric. you can write songs better with it too. and you can take it anywhere. no amp required. its fun to go play in a park on a pretty day. great time to write songs.

woohoo its back!!!!!!!

I am writing my 3rd song and still learning more covers...soon I will be writing on the ukulele

Wow, I haven't seen this thread in months!
Great to have it back :D

I LOVE UKULELE'S. I've written two songs on mine. its so fun. You can play capo on seven on guitar and get a somewhat close sound. but its still nothing to the real thang.

Yeah...I need new strings for all my guitars and ukulele. They all sound terrible now and I havent really changed my strings and havent bought new ones in forever. So I have been babysitting for money. Hopefully soon I can buy some.
