I was jut finnishing up checking everything over before we leave tomorrow and noticed that I spelled my daughters friends name wrong on the airline tix reservation.
Is this going to give us problems?
I spelled it Jordon and its Jordan.
I think I remember reading somewhere that there will be a bunch of red tape we have to go through...
Freaking out...
Help.....:eek::scared1:

How old is she? Is she is under 18 she doesn't need any identification so it wouldn't matter.

Is the friend under 18? If so, she won't need photo ID and therefore there's no way for anyone to know her name is misspelled. The only possible issue might be if she LOOKS 18 or older and they want some sort of ID.

I believe you normally would have to call the airline and that there are fees involved in getting the ticket changed. However I'm not sure how big of a deal the "o" versus the "a" is -- i.e. you aren't changing her name like getting a ticket in someone elses name you just need to change one letter.

I'm thinking I would call the airlines to be safe.

My last name was spelled with 3 LLLs instead of LL and I just called Airtran customer service and they were able to change it in their system without a fee and I just reprinted my boarding pass and confirmation pages.

I was in WDW March 17-21 2010 so it was just last month that I had the issue :)
Good Luck :)

I wouldn't even worry about it, she may be subjected to additional search, but that's it. Even the secure ID flight program allows for exceptions, just more inconvenient.

I would call the Airline... I just did this with JetBlue...
When I booked my reservation I double typed the first letter of my name.

They changed it with no problem, emailed me a new confirmation and did not charge me a fee.

Which airline is it? Jetblue & Southwest have great customer service so i would be surprised if they you were charged with them.

Two separate times in the last few months, DH's company's travel agency has done something absolutely mystifying to DH's name. Both times, different mystifying things.

Neither time did anyone care. And those were international flights. We were worried both times, but neither time did it stop him at all, even when pointing it out to the employees.

Call the airline and have them change it. It's no big deal. When you make airline reservations, it states that your name must match exactly as it appears on your government-issued id card. Since your daughter's friend is over 18, she'll have to show id. There's no sense in risking the extra hassle of additional security screening or worse yet, the misspelled name is the name of someone on a security alert list.

Whatever you do don't tell the airline you want to change the name on the ticket. That would be interperted as changing the passenger who'll be flying. Either not allowed or subject to a fee.

I'm not sure I'd bother but if you want to call the airline tell them you need to correct a typo.

What they say and what TSA looks at are not the same. A few airlines want your full middle name, even if the ID you intend to use has just an initial (state license). I've put it in fully and never been questioned on it at the gate this year in 5 r/t flights so far. I brought my passport just in case as it has the full middle name and I've never had to use it.

I had to do this a few years ago; I did not realize that one of my co-workers goes by her middle name and not her first name. We called the airlines and they changed it with no fee involved.

Better safe than sorry.

This happened to me a couple of years ago. I believe it was with US Air. I called customer service when they changed my flights and they typed my name Kymberly instead of Kimberly. No one asked me for anything when I showed them my license.

I booked a ticket for my mother once with SWA. I used her old married name instead of her new married name for some reason. I called and they said to bring her license and a copy of her marriage certificate. She did and it worked out fine but that was probably 5-6 years ago. So I guess I would call and see what they say.
