Eeek! Possible happy news about Summer travel!

The border possibly being open soon is great news. I may actually get to go back to the best park in the US.
Cedar Point.

Cedar Point is awesome! But my kids were shocked at the idea of waiting in line lol. They got hopelessly spoiled at WDW. Even with every line-busting, zagging when everyone zips, skill up my sleeve, some lines were just inevitable.

Of course, if you can go on a weekday at the end of August, the place is empty. My last trip was August 2019 and it turns out that walking on to every coaster isn't always the best idea. I was so rattled and jangled by the nonstop coasters, I finally had to take an hour's break just to sit and NOT ride another coaster LOL! I must be getting too old.

Breaking: Blue Jays are moving their home games back to Buffalo in June....maybe because it's closer for Canadian fans? Could they know something about cross border travel opening up that we don't?

They played in Buffalo last year. This has been planned for a while. It is too hot to play the summer in FL, where they spent the season until now. And the stadium in Buffalo is fitted out for them after last year.

I buy Fastlane when I go to Cedar Point. It may cost a lot, like $120 per person but it's worth it if you want no waits.

Wow, encouraging news indeed! Hopefully we can get our 2nd shot before August vacay dates so we can go without quarantine when we return. Still not confident about that but holding out some hope. But it’s looking real good for October! I may go book air!

I haven't seen mention of not having to quarantine if you have both shots. Where did you read this? This is the important change that would allow me to take any trip out of the country. I can't quarantine for 14 days with my job.

I didn’t read it. I guess I jumped to an assumption that opening up travel after vaccinated would mean no quarantine.

I go every 1-2 years and had an annual pass a few years back so while we whine about lines, Fastlane isn't really worth it for us.

It mostly sucks when my DD goes on group trips with friends who are not interested in touring efficiently and end up riding maybe 3-4 coasters in a whole day. Oh well, the other kids are generally satisfied and happy and DD prefers not to rock the boat since she goes every year anyway.

Well, except for last year. And unlikely to go this year either. But now there is hope for next year!

This has yet to be announced or determined. I don’t think that they would be talking about vaccine passports and opening up travel if things were essentially staying the same with quarantines, but it remains to be seen. Hopefully details come soon.

Wow. I sure wouldn't be booking anything for the summer, probably not even fall at this point. My brother works for a very large company in Detroit (he lives in Windsor) and used to travel over to the US daily. He's been told the border will likely open in stages, depending on purpose of travel. Leisure travel will be the last...

I wouldn’t feel comfortable making any sort of plan for summer either , but if Canada sticks with its plan to have everyone who wants to be fully vaccinated by September I don’t know that it will go much longer than that for the fully vaccinated. Fully refundable travel plans are smart right now .

The call for detailed opening plans and metrics will get louder and louder in the coming weeks. We should know the plan soon. I know I feel 100 times better planning for and discussing the possibility of travel plans than I have in a long time.

Not planning for summer travel, at least nothing international, and nothing big, but certainly with vaccines ramping up and even the 12-15 year olds eligible now, I would hope by fall the border will be open and without the quarantines. I honestly can't see them opening the land border without removing that, at least for those vaccinated.

In any case, I am planning a December vacation and am becoming more hopeful it will actually happen as each new piece of news comes out. Seven months to go. Seven months ago we were just hearing about vaccines being possible. And heading into wave 2. A lot can change.

I agree summer travel is not likely without restrictions. But I’m way more hopeful for the fall. We have October booked but everything can be changed if needed.

I would definitely not book anything that can’t be cancelled or changed.

I have an Oct trip booked too for Universal to meet up with friends from California. I may book air now! Alaska flies direct to MCO from Seatac. And they have a 30 min commuter connection from YVR.

Well I just booked our flights for Honolulu for November. Used our travel bank credits with WJ so really we have nothing to lose. If we have to cancel they go right back into our travel bank. We have until Oct 10th to cancel our stay at Aulani to make sure our points go back into the correct UY and not into holding.

Tempted to book March break 2022 soon, since we have nothing to lose either since we’d just be using WJ credits as well.
