It was so weird to read all the drama that a teen goes through! :lmao: I'm going to keep those and read them again when my kids approach their teen years - it may help me understand what they're going through!

What was funny was the fickle friendships I had with this one girl, who used to stop speaking to me for a day or two over nothing really. Very strange! And I forgot that drinking was completely acceptable at 16 (and even 15). House parties had beer at the parents' blessing! I hated beer, so the closest I got was shandy - mixing beer with ginger ale or Sprite.

I laughed over all the boys I liked, and how excited I was when they talked to me etc.! I was forever plotting ways to run into them, get them to dance with me etc.

What a :rotfl: laugh I had today!

How neat, I don't even want to know what was in mine. My DM used to find them and read them. Come to think about it maybe I do want to know what I wrote a thousand years ago. :teeth:

A few months ago I found two bags full of letters from friends and boys. I was amazed at all the drama I had with friends. We all used to fold our notes like fort knox and I can still remember how to fold them that way.

Eeks! I think I burned mine long ago! I have vivid memories however, of going into the bathroom after my first kiss and looking at my face to see if it looked different. What a total dork! :sad2:

You guys are too funny!

I used to analyze everything to death - everything the boy said (could it mean something?), the amount of time they looked at me (he keeps looking at me - could he like me?) etc.

My first real kiss came from a boy I was not at all attracted to at a party - he backed me up against a piano and just "dropped it in" (as we used to say)! :rotfl: I was repulsed, fascinated and somewhat flattered! :lmao:

As teens we used to embarrass each other terribly by doing all sorts of things to let certain boys know who had crushes on them. Many a boy found out I liked them via shenanigans perpetrated by other girls I knew!

What a treasure you found. Think of how much fun it will be to read them again in 20 years. :thumbsup2

I read my high school journals a few months ago, when I was 14-17. I was shocked!!!! I had no self-esteem and I honestly don't remember being so depressed (at least as much as I sound in my journals)!

I kept pretty extensive journals when I was in high school and just after graduation. At the time I thought I would want to keep them forever. But after about 10 years I was so ashamed of what was in them I ran them through the shredder. I am REALLY glad they aren't laying around where DH or DS could stumble across them.

I recently found mine as well. I have a daughter now, and I hope they will be helpful to me and DH when she becomes a teenager, in only 8 years!

Maybe they will be helpful for her as well, after I censor them! ;)

I got REAALLLLY close to doing that!! I actually ripped out the pages of the one I had from when I was 16-17, but I recently found the one where I was 12-14!!! I was home in March and found it in a drawer.

It was so weird to read. I read about my first kiss (ughhhh) and ALL the boys I liked. Geez. There were boys in there I didn't even remember liking! I swear, if a guy looked at me I'd write it in that freaking journal (which was covered w/ Mickey Mouse faces, might I add  ). I even read about how we put my dog to sleep- I was bawling like a baby just reading about it.

Then the next page was a few weeks later after calming down from it, back to the boys again!!

I even wrote in it about how I had re-read the first half of the diary and hoped that my "future husband and kids don't think I'm crazy... but that I kind of am... so I guess that's ok" or something of that nature :rotfl2:
