Eeeek!!! Pinkeye!

Well, we're pretty sure my brother, who comes to visit me on the weekends, has pinkeye. He went home early today because of it, so he was here almost 3 days. It manifested itself yesterday in the early afternoon. I've been all worried that I may get it because I freak out about things like that.
Anyway, I guess my question is does anyone have experience with pinkeye? He wasn't touching his eyes, and I haven't been touching mine either. My fiance is also not touching his eyes. When we got home today, after work, we sprayed disinfectant on anything and everything he may have touched. We also used disinfectant wipes on things too. Now, we're doing tons of laundry and dishes. It may seem weird, but I don't to get it. Is there anything else I could do or anything I may have forgotten? Any and all advice welcome!

my dd was sent home from school last year. the nurse suspected she had pinkeye. the eye doctor wasn't sure that it was pinkeye, but he treated her as if she had it. gave her antibiotics and told her not to touch her eyes, and to wash her hands frequently.

you took all the righ precautions.

i second Briar Rose 7457... sounds like your doing all that needs to be done....

my DD just had pinkeye and it wasn't very fun... she was out of school for almost a whole week....
an i did exactly what you did.... i went as far as spraying down her pillow and bed every morning so as not to get her "reinfested"...

I generally get it once a year (I think it has to do with my contacts, but not sure), and DD4 recently had it. You have taken the right precautions, but if you want to add an extra layer of safety, throw away all of your recently used eye makeup and buy new stuff.

kiddo...why a full week? DD4's school said she could come back after 24 hours on the drops.

well jwsqrdplus2, my DD11 wasn't very carefull and infected the other eye also... and even with the medication she had, the school wouldn't let her come back until it was totally cleared. don't ask me why...
