ECVs cause invisibility?

Today my dad and I went to Sam’s club. He uses one of those ECV carts and the Sam’s staff tell him to drive the cart out to his car, then I drive it back. Well today as we were crossing the street to our car, this SUV turns onto the street (she wasn’t there before) and speeds up completely ignoring my dad and I. I had to grab my dad’s steering (a big no-no) because he was about to get run over! (He has an ear infection right now and is slightly deaf, so he couldn’t hear me tell him to move).

Then to make things worse, as I drove the cart back (it’s only like 100ft away) another car almost hit me! Again, the street was clear when I tried to cross.

Have other people experienced this odd phenomena of becoming invisible while driving an ECV? I mean these things must have super powers or something!

I've often thought that I should rob a bank while using mine--after all, no one would see me and I could buy a loud air horn with the loot to help when I am out and about!

I sometimes notice this when I use my cane or my wheelchair. I do find that the cars waiting on me to use the cross walk get more impatient waiting for me to cross. I guess some people don't want to wait on the wheelchair or ECV to cross, they don't want to be slowed down

There ya go! Maybe then people wouldn't ignore the ECV's. Instead, they'll throw their money and dive for cover!

Yep, some people are just in too much of a hurry to think, be courteous or follow the law.

I can understand how frusterating this must be. We use a service dog and you would think people would notice a big brown dog inside of walmart, but I can't tell you the number of times I have had to grab someones buggy to keep them from running him over or stop someone from stepping on him. I guess some people just live in a worl all their own.

whenever idiots run into me or stop right in front of my chair and don't notice, i always look at my wife or mother and say, "you know what would be awesome? being the only person on the planet!"

the funny thing is, most of the time they do not even hear me!

The phenomenon isn't restricted to people driving cars... it applies to folks walking, too! I can't tell you how many times I've come within millimeters of running smack into somebody who tried to walk right in front of my scooter. It's bad enough at home in stores and parking lots, but becomes about 100x times worse at WDW! Sometimes I really do think I'm invisible. That would be so cool. No more waiting in queues!
