Hi :D

I will be using an ECV for the first time ever during our next trip, which is the last 10 days in September.

I've heard that September can be quite rainy, so I'm wondering how you all keep yourself AND the ECV dry?

Any tips would be great!

Thanks :D

When I rent from Walker, one of the things they provide is a small platic bag which hangs from the angle-adjusting lever of the tiller bar. The bag will contain a clear plastic shower cap. This is to protect the control box; which is all they worry about. From a technical standpoint no other part of the ECV has any problem with rain.

Normally we will carry one or two ponchos and umbrellas in the storage area on the back of the seat-back. If it rains I will put one of the ponchos on. It will go over the back of the seat. Since I am seated it will protect my upper body and legs, at least down past the knees.

We will also tend to carry a towel for two purposes. If it is not rainy/cloudy the leather seat can get very hot and oncomfortable; the towel helps. If the ECV had beeen parked outside, and it had rained, the towel can be used to dry off the seat.

If it is going to rain heavily, we will tend to go into a restaurant or show to keep dry.

I always travel with a cape that is tailored to fit over me seated in my wheelchair. It reaches down over my feet and even has windows over my hands so I can see my control box settings. They have other capes for scooters/ECVs with windows for the lights and so on.

This is probably no use to you if you are only an occasional user, but if you use one here in the UK rain regularly, it is worth checking their website at: http://www.simplanex.co.uk/
I get a lot of envious looks as I ride past other WDW visitors in a 'Florida Carwash'.

Thanks everyone, for your help :D

CF - I am renting from Walker too, so it's good to know they provide a cover for the control box. :D

Andrew - thanks for the link but I don't use a scooter in the UK, but it certainly sounds as though you are ready for any weather Florida could throw at you! ;)

Thanks again. :D

I'm a poncho and towel girl myself! Just remember to drape the poncho over the back of the seat so the rain drips down away from you and not under you.
PD for clear skies on your trip.

Thanks for that tip Nanajo, and also thanks for the PD! :D
