ECV/Scooter Rental Recommendations

My In-laws will be joining us for a few days during our trip to DL in December. My mother-inlaw has a bad knee and has trouble walking for long periods. I suggested that she rent an ecv/scooter while at DL. I know that they can't be taken into DTD and we will be staying at the DLH.

Does anyone have a recommendation/experience renting from an offsite company? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Deckert's. Used them several times and they are always fully charged and we have never had a problem with the batteries. They will drop it off at the Hotel and you will be free to take them into DTD and the parks or anywhere you go for that matter. There should be plenty of space in your room to store them with you at night.

If the scooters work the same way as the wheelchairs, then DLH keeps a supply from Deckert's on hand, so you don't even have to arrange for drop off and pick up. You just call Deckert's to arrange for the chair and payment, and then go down to the front desk and they'll have it for you.

When I was there in August all I had to do was call Deckert's and they took all my information and my credit card. Once the charge was approved they called me back and gave me a scooter number. I just had to go down to the bell desk in the lobby and they got my scooter and brought it to me. Deckert's now keeps a supply of scooters at the 3 Disney hotels. When you come back to the hotel at night you can drop it off at the bell desk and they'll charge it for you and you just pick it up from them again in the morning.

I took the scooter to my room to charge it the first night and after that I let them do it. It was worth a couple of dollars' tip not to have to maneuver it into the room and out again.

I would highly recommend them.

I would still call ahead as the number of ECV's are limited. That will be helpful to you and other guests that might decide at the last minute they need one.

Deckert is always our choice for rentals. If staying at a DL Resort hotel, if your room is crowded with the scooter GS gave us permission to park in the hall way by our room and there are outlets in the hall to plug into. That's nice that bell service will charge the scooters every night. Usually people in our group need the ECV to get to their room. So either charging in your room or in the hall works great for us.

And yes, call ahead to reserve as it could be a busy time and that way you would know for sure that you would have a scooter upon your arrival.

Deckert's. So easy. It was $120 for 4 days and so worth it. You keep it for your whole trip, and they will need it! The hike back and forth to DLH from DLR is kinda far-ish, especially with mobility issues. Call before (my Mom called the day before her trip!), pay with credit card, arrive at DLH and scooter is waiting at bell service with your name on it. At end of trip, bring it back and drop it off at bell service. Also, there are electrical outlets outside the resort rooms in the hallway that you can use to charge the scooter overnight, no need to bring it into your room. Have fun!!

Highjacking this thread, lol. :) Are the scooters from Deckert's the kind that come apart to go into the trunk of a car? We're staying off site so that's the kind I would need.....any recommendations for those type?

I tried to find a website for Deckert's but doesn't appear they have one????

:rolleyes1 This might sound like a silly question BUT when you bring your own scooter rented or owned how do you get from TRAM area to FRONT of the parks coming from like the Mickey n Friends Parking structure? I have probably never seen a scooter placed at the front or rear of a tram - ONLY baby strollers.
Thanks to anyone with the answer!! :flower3:
Appreciate the help!
