How have people done their off-site ECV rentals when doing split stays?

Do you do a single rental and transport the ECV to the new resort yourself or do you do split rentals and have a new ECV waiting for you at the second resort?

I have always brought the ECV to the second resort. So, a single rental.

Single rental..I use Lyft the morning of the change to take our things to the new resort and my guests head to the parks…or DS… and I meet them there.

Single rental with different drop off and pick up locations.

I have Bell Services come retrieve my luggage and Owners Locker to send on to my new resort then I scoot off to enjoy my day!

It can get complicated if you have a car. If you get the kind that can be transported, no problem. Otherwise it’s can be a game of switcher if you are traveling alone or with others who are mobility challenged.

if no car, or if you have others who can move the car for you, it is easy leash like others have said. Have fun😀

Getting closer, so time for more questions…

I know there aren’t resort to resort buses, so going from AKV Kidani to VGF would it be best to AKV Park and the catch a bus to VGF from there.

This will be a down day for us (adult kids will be going to HP at Universal) so we will likely drop the ECVs off and do a combo of heading over to Disney Springs and hanging out at VGF until our room is ready.

We do a single rental with return at a different resort. We've even done this with split stay between WDW and Uni. On a side note, it was nice just leaving the ECV with bell services at Portofino Bay and not having to wait and meet them in person (using a company other than Disney's "official" ECV partner).

On some trips, I've been able to get the ECV (has to be a smaller model that disassembles) into the back of our SUV along with our luggage and just drove everything to the new resort.

On occasion, I've made two trips to get everything there (didn't want to have Disney transfer our luggage because of delays in getting our stuff at the destination).

Another method we used on one "worst case" occasion was that I drove the car and my wife took her ECV by bus to the closest theme park and then transferred to another bus going to the new resort.

This sounds like you wouldn't need your ECV at all times?

Because you could take your ECV on the bus to DS spend some there, and and then bus to VGF.

I'd take the MK bus and then use the walkway over to VGF on the ECVs! Or, jump on the monorail...

I’d probably hop on whichever bus came first at Kidani, if it was an MK bus, I’d take it & head to the GF via the walkway, monorail, or boat - the only minor hassle being you’ll have to go through MK security. If an AK bus came first at Kidani, then I’d hop on it & catch the GF bus at AK - no security check point in that scenario.

Coincidently, that's the exact same split I was doing. What I did was take the bus from Kidani to MK. From there, I took the walkway over to VGF. Actually that served 2 purposes-not only did it get me to VGF in pretty short order, it also meant that I could find out exactly where the walkway came out at GF. I was planning to take the walkway to MK the next morning, and since I'm an EE person, I didn't want to waste any time the next morning looking for the walkway. I don't remember security being far enough down , so I don't remember going though it. It was over 2 years ago, so things could have changed.

If you take the bus from AKV to MK, Security screening is at the exit from the bus station, before the MK entrance plaza.

As noted above, if you bus from AKV to AK and then to GF, there’s no security screening. However, you’d be dealing with ECV loading on two buses, as opposed to one bus followed by walkway or monorail if you bus to MK.
