Hi. Due to a hip and back injury I will be using an Ecv for the first time when we visit Disneyland at Christmas. I would really like any tips you can think of to help. (I have used one once at Epcot but transferred to the lines for rides and parked it with the strollers etc).

One thing I really would like to know is I struggle to stand for more than a few minutes at a time without severe pain. How do I get to the ride vehicle (for example haunted mansion when you go into room etc.) in my Ecv and then transfer to the ride vehicle? I would find it impossible to stand in line for a long tone. I'm not wanting to push in, I want to wait my turn, but can I wait seated in my Ecv?

You can take your ECV all the way to the area where you get on the ride vehicle. Just tell them you need to go all the way to the ride vehicle. They will escort you there when it is your turn, and you will wait for one of the accessible vehicles to come around.

Just wanted to add that we always use Deckerts and have been very pleased with them. I just reserved for our upcoming trip and the cost was around $24.00 per day. We got a small discount for renting for the whole week and one for being repeat customers but I would give them a try if you are still looking. They drop off and pick up from your Hotel of choice.

Another tip is that some lines will ask you to park it and walk up the exit to wait (BTMRR comes to mind), just tell them you'd like to take it all the way and it won't be a problem.

I am another happy Deckert customer. They can deliver your ECV right to most hotels but you should check with your hotel if they have any ECV restrictions. I found that having the ECV for the "walk" to and from the hotel to Disneyland was super important for me especially at the end of the evening when I am very tired.

Thanks so much for the information. It's all a little overwhelming considering how busy the parks will be when we visit (December 17 to 26) but it's use a scooter or don't go so I'll give the scooter a go. If it's too bad I'll park up somewhere and let the others enjoy the rides and shows. Hopefully it will be okay.

It is going to be exceptionally busy your dates. Just go slow and be cautious. Can you walk and stand for 5 mins or less? If that is the case, you should be ok. Lines like Peter Pan, you will get a return time and then will need to walk up the exit. If you don't think you can handle 5 mins, they can get a wheelchair for you to take up the exit (too narrow to handle an ECV.)

I use Deckerts. They are my favorites. They deliver and it really is easy.

Instead of parking and being left out, head to DCA, everything is HA friendly and you will just go through the queues without a hitch!!

Just a note.. We used a smart phone to track our distances during one trip and were surprised to find we walk 6 to 6.5 miles a day (and we were staying directly across the street at BWPPI).

During the 24 hour party in May, the teens racked up 14 miles, while the mobile adults, who did a LOT of sitting and chatting, made 10 miles. We were all shocked.

Just got back from the parks and used Deckert's and an ECV for the first time. It made the difference between and miserable trip and a great one. Cast members were great about telling us where we needed to go to enter a ride. Amazing how many people just cut right in front of you when you are driving it though. Good thing they stop suddenly.

I'm so glad it made an great trip for you. I would echo your comment "THESE THINGS CAN'T STOP ON A DIME" I'm always scared my Mother is going to kill someone.

I totally agree about this. People just don't pay attention. I drive mine really slow and still get kids jumping in front of me or more often adults looking up and not watching where they are going and then get pissed if you accidentally hit them because you didn't have time to stop! I'm always either yelling "coming through" so they can see me or put the rest of my party to walk in front of me but even that doesn't work sometimes in large crowds. I try to stay out of the midst of crowds and if I am I go super slow and hope for the best. Its the only way I can enjoy the parks, I'm just recovering from knee replacement surgery of both knees now (one last year, the other this year) but its not keeping me away from my Disney vacations!!:moped::rolleyes:
