Hello everyone!

We are going to WDW in May with my parents, both of which will be renting ECV's for the 1st time. My mom has had hip replacement and won't be able to walk the 3 - 5 miles a day you can walk at WDW. My dad had quadruple bypass in Dec. and won't be able to endure all of the walking & heat without one either.

That said - I've never experienced Disney with an ECV. We've been down there 3 years in a row so I'm very familiar with how things work (busses, etc.)

My questions:

1.) Do I need to allow more than 1 hour to get from my resort or theme park to my ADR?

2.) Are ECV's able to use the monorail?

3.) Do we leave them in stoller parking when boarding rides?

4.) My mom will have a hard time getting in and out of rides like Peter Pan etc.? If we tell the CM will they stop or slow down the ride so she can board and then disembark at the end?

Thanks for your help! :goodvibes

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

1.) Do I need to allow more than 1 hour to get from my resort or theme park to my ADR?
A lot depends on the transportation. The buses are limited to only two ECVs or wheelchairs per vehicle. Also buses run about every 20 minutes; it depends on whee you are going from and to.

2.) Are ECV's able to use the monorail?
Yes. Each monorail can handle at least four ECVs. Since they have made some changes, they may be able to handle up to six.
3.) Do we leave them in stroller parking when boarding rides?
No. Generally you can take them to the boarding area. Most lines are mainstreamed so you can use the ECVs in the line. Some at MK or Epcot are not; you would either go part way through and then pulled out, or signs or a CM near the entrance will direct you.
4.) My mom will have a hard time getting in and out of rides like Peter Pan etc.? If we tell the CM will they stop or slow down the ride so she can board and then disembark at the end?
All of the attraction rides other than Peter Pan or TTA can be stopped. Make sure you let a CM in the boarding area know that extra time may be needed.
