ECV on smaller boat from MK to Grand Floridian?

Hi all, I just heard they’re closing the walking path from Grand Floridian to MK next week for a couple of months. Frustrating as have a trip booked with my sister in early March and she’ll be using an ECV, and we were really looking forward to using the walking path. Ugh.

I know we can use the monorail, but as a second option do you know if the smaller boats that go between MK and Grand/Poly can accommodate an ECV?

Many thanks!

Not when I was there. They do have boats in this category, like WL alternates between an accessible and inaccessible boat. I can see adding that in the mix if they are closing the walkway, but I've never actually seen the accessible boat running to GF, except at the very end of the night after fireworks.

Edit to add: I stayed GF in June and October.

OK thanks, that’s what I thought. Sigh!

When we were there in fall 2021, the accessible boat was running GF to MK. We used it several times.

It is not a small boat but rather similar to the larger boats on the MK/WL route.

Assuming there's been no change since we used those, the skipper at the dock can tell you if the next boat will be the larger accessible one when you get to the dock or how much longer until it arrives.

OK great, that’s encourging! I used that boat a few times myself when I was there in the fall with another friend. Loved it!

When I was there last month, I asked the boat captain-he said that Disney has made sure that all resorts have accessible boats to MK, that it had been a disadvantage of the monorail resorts, so Disney changed it. He even pointed out an accessible boat from the GF that was coming into the MK dock at that time!

Wonderful news! I believe I was there many years ago with a friend of mine who was on an ECV, and we had an issue with one of those boats, which is why I asked. Glad to hear it has changed 😊
