Are there any problems with taking an ECV up or down the monorail ramp at MK. It looks pretty steep. If so, is there another option to get up to the monorail ( elevator)? I'm especially concerned about my mother using it since she has never used an ECV before, but we plan to rent one from an outside company for our trip.

You are wrong. There is no elevator to the monorail at either TTC or MK.

There is an elevator at Epcot on the Boarding side. At Contemporary there is an elevator from the 4th floor to the platform. At both Poly anf GF the monorail platform is on the second floor and there are elevators inside.

The problems using the ramps are minor. One is to make sure that the control knob is set to "full rabbit" to give the extra power needed going up. The other is for her to lean forward while going up to keep the center of gravity forward of the rear wheels. Going down is much easier, again she should sit as far back and upright as possible to work with the center of gravity.

OOPs.. Sorry I thought they were an elevator.. I know I used an elevator I thought It was at Mk .. It must of been epcot..

my mother refuses to use a ECV - so I get her a free wheelchair at the WDW resort we stay at...

she complaints she can't control it.

but she has refused to learn anything new in quite a while. - Hope you have better luck with your mother.

I can control a wheelchair going down this thing - there is more control with a ECV....

the problem I have is at the Land - that hill is steeper. So I warn the people in front of me that is part is for wheelchairs and if I hit them - sorry....

you would be surprised how they get out of my way..... :goodvibes

I had no trouble with my ECV going up or down steep walks, I rather enjoyed it,
It was like being on another ride :moped: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :cool1:

If the ramp is crowded I can have a problem. The stop and go pace as you inch up the ramp can be tricky. Trying to leave the smallest space between me and the person ahead is near impossible as someone invariably tries to jump in. I'll wait for the really big crowd to pass.

that is probably the safest option.

besides which you can't get out without the CM help - they have to put those ramp down first and sometimes they wait until the crowds are less to put it down.

I always leave six foot stopping distance between me and the person in front. If someone jumps in, I explain why I leave a gap in front of me (that I can't stop on a dime), but maintain my original six foot gap from the person who is now in front of them! I reason that if they don't like me running into them exery time the line stops moving, they can always fall back behind me again.
