ECV in a rented minivan?

Our upcoming trip will be a group of seven family members, including my mother, all staying in one villa at Kidani. My mother has bad knees and will be using an ECV to get around. Because she weighs only 130, I thought a portable ECV would be a good option for her -- specifically the ones rented by Buena Vista (Pride Revo).

I know that they can be made to fit into a trunk, but I'm wondering if I can make one fit into the smaller (but taller) trunk space in a minivan. With 7 people we will need every seat, but I imagine that parts of the scooter could be carried on the floor in the passenger area if necessary.

Being able to travel in one vehicle will be a big deal for us, because my mother will have the HC placard so we will have to split up if we are not in the same vehicle. Can I get seven people and a portable ECV into a minivan?

1) Not unless it is a mini-moving-van.
2) Most only seat 6-7, any how.
3) When renting, ask for the biggest one they have.

I am far from an authority on ECVs but I did some quick research on your question as my family has similar issues. The Revo model is out of production and is no longer listed on the Buena Vista website. The next nearest model that seems to most nearly match the Revo is the Standard and it is the only one recommended for trunk transport. It breaks down into 5 components but I have no idea how large the largest one is. The smaller but taller space in the van might work based on the information posted on BV's website.

I would suggest that you call BV and ask for Dianna. She is patient and knowledgeable and could probably answer your questions. Hope this has been helpful.

We fit an ECV in he back of our rented Minivan. We had six people 2 of which were in carseats and took up the back row. We rented our EVC from Randy's. I also don't weigh alot but had just had ankle surgery so I could do the extreme walking the Disney consist of.

Not at Disney, because we use their transportation, but at Williamsburg, we had a rental minivan and a rental ECV and had no trouble fitting it in and that was a regular ECV not the small one. Think we may have had to take it apart though, if I am recalling properly. That was awhile ago.

Thanks for the helpful responses! I will definitely call Dianna at BV to discuss -- I was naming the model based on the Owner's Manual PDF they have posted on their web site, so I may be looking at out of date info.

To update this thread for future searchers, I did exactly this. Dianna assured me that the portable scooters can easily fit in the trunk space of any rental minivan -- she even indicated that there could be more room in the trunk for other items because the pieces of the disassembled ECV can "stand up" against the back seat of the van. She expressed no concerns whatsoever, nothing like "well, it depends on the van." It should not be a problem.

The closest I have experience with is 5 people, my ECV and a large stroller in a not so large minivan. Tight as can be, but we made it work. We did split up the parts. I was on a heavy duty scooter because I am not 130 pounds (lol) so it was larger. We found that putting our bags in the basket when we removed it and then having one person hold the seat and putting the batteries at someones feet made a HUGE difference.

Also for reference I can fit an ECV into the trunk ok my moms 2000 Toyota Carrola (spelling?) and that is a TINY car. Hope this helped some.

It absolutely can be done! We fit a broken down ECV plus my daughter's wheelchair in the well of my Toyota Sienna (all seats up). There was also all our day bags - which number a LOT lol. My mini van seats 7 but some have a jumper seat and can fit 8. Good luck!
