My mother who normally uses a walker will be coming to Disney with us in March and will be renting an ECV. She would like to bring her walker to use in restaurants and for short walks, etc.

Does anyone have tips on attaching a walker to an ECV? It's a small walker that folds flat. We were thinking of using Velcro straps to somehow attach it to the back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your Mom going to rent an ECV from WDW, or an outside vendor, or will she bring her own?

It's trickier with a rental unit because you can't "practice" attaching the walker to the scooter prior to arriving at WDW. Being prepared - by bringing along scissors, Velcro, and any other tools you may want or need - will be important.

If you are considering using Velcro, a great product to purchase in advance is Velcro One Wrap. It works like regular Velcro, but one side of the strip is the "hook" side, and the other side is the "loop" side, so it will stick to itself. The product I linked to comes in a long roll, so you can cut strips to exactly the length you want. Be sure to allow enough overlap of the strip when cutting to length to make sure it wraps to form a good strong bond. When I am not using the strips, they can be formed into a loop easily by simply attaching one end to the other side, and storing the loop on the handlebar of my personal ECV.

I use this product extensively with my own ECV (for double-stacking batteries for park days among other things) and have been very pleased with it.

Thank you so much for your help! We will definitely look into the Velcro one wrap! She will be renting from Apple so we don't have one to play around with before the trip. My DH was thinking bungee cords could work but I think the Velcro looks easier.

Another hint, secure the walker upside down - feet on top. The feet are wider than the handles so putting it feet up balances better.

If you have problems attaching the walker, can someone else in your party use the walker, walk with it? It's a handy place to set your backpack if it's one with a seat.
