Run a free listing day over the 4th of July weekend?

I was reading on another site that the reason for the frequent specials is that their web site popularity has dropped from 4th to 17th and they're trying to increase traffic..

I have a bunch of stuff I'm getting ready "just in case" and have the auctions saved in a special folder at sparedollar.. I finally gave up on Turbo Lister after the last "update" cost me two days of my time when it kept getting hung up on the "application" process.. Not crazy about paying a monthly fee to list, but for the most part it has been much more reliable than TL and my auctions look better - not to mention being able to include more photos..

They used to do free listing days in June and December of each year. But more recently they just have been doing 1 cent gallery fees in June and December instead of the free listing and they just had the 1 cent gallery on June 21 and 22.

Even with all the free stuff, they have had the free listing in June and December so far. I hope to have postcards ready..but I'm not sure, since the free listing times are always dismal for me with so much competion..it still takes time, even though we make some money.

C.Ann (how you been GF..haven't seen you in awhile)..my last time using Spare Dollar was during a free listing time, when I put up lots of junk (stuff I normally wouldn't have bothered with, as well as my regular stuff)..and none of it went up until middle of the night and I had to pay full price..which was over $200!! I've been mad at them ever since LOL. It tends to bog during specials. I think about using them again, since they are less expensive than Vendio (but not as nice IMO), and then I remember the listing fees I got stuck with! My advice it to list early in the day, if it does happen (the free listing day) if using SD.

I deleted TL off my computer and started fresh with a new d/l..and it seems to be wokring very well. I do have road runner, so that may help. Of course I gladly pay for Vendio (one of my items has 24 pics on it right now..a breeze for Vendio..cost me .05 and 1% of the sale..but pics sell stuff)..but for the postcards with only one pic each, I may use TL.

I"m not sure. I know that we could use it as well.

I'm sure I could get some "just in case " things together as well.

WE just listed a bunch of stuff with the .01 Gallery. Last free listing I saw was right after Christmas.

It was 12/26 for sure.

I would kill for a FLD right now. I have approximately 250 postcards and they are in the .99 range - wouldn't sell for any more than that. I listed about 17 during the last FLD and sold 8 or 9 - so that was still free $$$. But it sure doesn't pay to list 20 and only sell 10 if I am getting hit with .35 per auction!!!

I suppose I should take a bunch of photos just in case.

Hi there! I've been busy as all get out this past week and next week isn't looking much better - that's why I'm trying to get some eBay stuff done while I can..

I've read some comments on the SD board about auctions not launching at scheduled times, so if they have the FD I'll launch them myself - 5 or 10 at a time and hopefully things won't bog down on me..

As for TL - all I can say is "Grrrrrrrr.." I deleted it off my computer, reinstalled, deleted again, installed via the CD they sent me in the mail, deleted it off again, reinstalled from the web site and it just kept getting hung up on the application.. Checked out the troubleshooting section on eBay and followed all those instructions and still no luck so I finally threw in the towel.. I was already signed up with SD for things with more than one photo in them anyhow so I just decided to use them exclusively beng I'm paying the $4.95 a month..

Next step is finding special size boxes for a whole bunch of the stuff I hope to put up if the FD materializes.. Gonna have to hunt around on the internet for those..

I remember the 12/26 free day.. I managed to get a bunch of stuff up real quick and actually did quite well with it.. I was surprised because I thought no one would be spending money right after Christmas - LOL.. That taught me never to "assume"..

What sizes ..I always have the boxes I've given you before.

I always do great after Christmas..people on vacation with money to spend. Not quite the same as July 4th LOL. Of course, I am usually not selling this time of year at all (if I'm not selling, this is a great time to not be working!) but lately, it's still going pretty darn good.

If SD is working for you..that $4.99 is a cheap price to pay..especially since you are paying it already. And you can schedule at no cost with SD, can't you? I think of using it sometimes..but then I remember the price when it doesn't work LOL.

I never let spare dollar launch my auctions. I get them all ready, but always go in and launch myself. Normally once an auction is launched, I always immediately go to ebay and view it.

I had boo-booed once and listed that I would disclose shipping costs later and then copied that auction several times. This way, I can see if I screwed up as soon as they go.

I wish they would decide already! I have so many things that we don't normally list that are larger --ie a Little Tykes wagon (good sturdy one) a hand painted girls bedside table (gorgeous, but my daughters says its too "girly") , and some other stuff, that I would list if it was Free...

Yes, but am I remembering it wrong? Wasn't it always in June (and December)?

I may be wrong but I thought it was on July 4th... last year. I was kind of suprised.

I do remember 12/26 though, I only got a few things up (8) but it all sold.
